Just saw this on Eurodressage. Wow....but it doesn't talk about spectators taking footage? Crazy.

"It is unclear whether the FEI has made this decision for commercial purposes (with a financial stake involved for (videoing/streaming) "Rights Holders") or whether this is the FEI's attempt to control the visual message of the sport now that the sport is so much under fire with animal welfarist."

The FEI has whipped up a storm with its updated "Non-rights Holders’ Guidelines for Publishing on Social Media at FEI Named Events." These guidelines were updated on 12 February 2024 but only as of today got spread amongst press and stakeholders

Time is a funny thing. Its passing can't be slowed and seems only to go faster, yet the memories and events that shape the past seem only to grow in impact with each and every year that passes. 18 years ago today I got a phone call from Karen Robinson telling me I needed to call Dietrich's wife Kim and that it was imperative I did it now. I remember that phone call like it was yesterday. With each passing year, I think to myself how can it be that it was so long ago that he took his life since he is in my thoughts daily. How does 18 years go so fast? Time keeps moving and no matter how hard we try, we cannot slow or stop its passing, but we can remember and revel in those years gone by watching how the events of our lives are and will be forever impacted by those relationships and times we had.

I wrote this column last summer after the World Cup for The Chronicle Of The Horse's Dressage Issue. When they didn't use it, I was a bit disappointed as it's a column I like and I think it needs to be said. I recently asked Chris Hector at The Horse Magazine if he would be interested in it and he said yes! I think the column is still very relevant and important, especially right now. It's a bit of a long read, as most of my columns are, so if you take the time to read it, thank you!

Jeremy Steinberg – Rider Position, a Lost Cause? Posted on February 14, 2024February 14, 2024 by horsemagazine I was teasing one of my riders last weekend, asking her about the wording of the rules of a canter pirouette, which she didn’t know, but was showing PSG none-the-less. I gave her a hard...

Buddy’s owner and my good friend Lucy Tidd is in town for a few weeks with her herd, came by to watch Buddy and got some video for me. Buddy has been a labor of love for her and is starting to turn the corner I think. Really proud of him and the progress he is making…and if you look real close at the cantle of his saddle, he has a pink sparkly heart sticker I put on this winter when I started riding him…power of positive thinking… and some sparkly hearts never hurt! Go Buddy!

And then there was Milo... My baby faced, bay ball of absolute sweetness. He's Fürst Romancier x Donnerhall and got off to a much slower start overall than Henry, but is feeling strong, looking great and couldn't be kinder or sweeter. Milo also came from Virtual Zone Horses and Peter de Boer and can't thank them enough for my boys. A huge thank you to Carolyn and James McMullen for their support and help with both boys! Thanks to Sierra Stewart for the video!

FINALLY got some new footage of Henry. He'd had a few days off, but figured I should grab the chance when I can! This boy is growing up well and he couldn't have a more proud Papa! Love this happy guy and thank Virtual Zone Horses and Peter de Boer for bringing him into our lives! Thank you Carolyn and James McMullen for your support and co-ownership in my boys, I couldn't be happier or more thankful for your friendship and support as well as our boys! Also, big thanks to Sierra Stewart for the footage!

Another one of Dietrich's columns from the old Dressage & CT. Although outdated on the scoring aspect of the Freestyle, interesting commentary on the tricks seen and the common sense approach to evaluating the ex*****on of the technical performance. I always looked forward to reading Dietrich's columns and think back fondly on how he would show us the videos and talk to us of his points and standards. I remember how much he loved Klaus Balkenhol's freestyle on Goldstern and Kyra Kyrklund's on Matador, both of which he makes mention of here.
