***IMPORTANT UPDATE***

I have been getting some inquiries on current work and it’s no secret I am behind. This post is to let everyone know where I’m at and what to expect.

There has been a lot of change in my life to include taking a promotion, going to a different shift, and having two young boys that require more of my time. I’m extremely passionate about taxidermy and love doing it but it is not my full time job, and unfortunately, I’m struggling to log a lot of hours in the shop. I will not be able to turn a lot of birds out between now and July due to that fact.

The good news is that in July, we are implementing new shifts at my regular job which, in theory, will allow me some more time to work on birds.

Currently, I am working on 2022 birds and, though I can’t give you an exact date of completion due to the aforementioned facts, can tell you with certainty they will be done this year.

If this is unacceptable for you I totally understand and you can have your bird back with the deposit. I would only caution you that most reputable taxidermist are about 2-3 years out so it may just set you back further.

Going forward I WILL NOT be taking in any new work…zero, ziltch, nothing…until I am caught up. If you shoot something you want mounted between now and then I can send you to a good bird guy/gal.

I truly appreciate all of you and all of your patience and know that when you get your birds back you will not be disappointed!

It was another fun and fantastic year at the annual Wisconsin Taxidermist Association state championship. I put my heart and soul into four pieces, two of which were customer birds, to bring to this years show and I was not disappointed with the outcome! All pieces that were entered were in the masters division and I ended up winning my first Breakthrough, Best of Show, Presidents award, Mayor’s choice award, along with several other choice awards with a great horned owl/pheasant. I also took home the Matuska Competitors’ Award (for all four pieces taking 1st place blues). The owl/phesant also won State Champion Bird Group and Best Bird Award.

To say that I’m feeling blessed is an understatement and I could not have done it without my wife, Holly Huth, standing beside me through it all. She is truly an amazing women who put up with my long hours in the shop and watched the boys while I was working away. I love you bear! My entire family needs to be thanked for their continued love and support of what I do.

Also a huge thank you to all my friends and mentors that I have met through the WTA. You know who you are and I wouldn’t be where I am today without your help and guidance.

To all my customers out there, I will be posting an update this week on where I’m at with your work. Thank you for your continued patience!

Nothing says fall like the colors on a rooster pheasant! This was an exceptional bird, shot later in the season, with very few missing breast feathers which makes a huge difference on the quality of the final product…fun bird to work on!

Yesterday my wife and I welcomed into the world our second son, Carson Huth. It ended up being an unplanned c-section but momma and baby are doing great! I’ll be out of the shop a little longer than expected due to my wife needing more help due to the c-section but once I get back in I’ll be getting through the work orders! Also, once things settle down I’ll be reaching out to those on the waiting list to get the birds in!

Eastern gobbling from the roost…I’ll put him on a limb once he’s dry and he’ll be displayed from the wall to show off those massive hooks!

I wanted to wait a little bit before I posted this bird out of respect for the family. Two weeks ago I received a phone call from a friend and it wasn’t a conversation I was expecting to have. He told me that our friend and fellow duck hunter, Josh Wege, had passed away the night prior, succumbing to his long battle with cancer. I knew that Josh had accomplished his dream of going to Alaska this past December and harvesting a beautiful harlequin and I also knew that I had that bird for him to mount. Then my friend dropped the hammer…he was wondering if I could mount the bird so it could be presented to his father, who was with Josh on his last hunt, and mother prior to the funeral…I had one week to get it done. Thank you to the understanding people at Matuska Taxidermy supply; they over night shipped the habitat supplies as I didn’t have what I needed in stock and thanks to the good Lord I was able to get it done. Hopefully this piece is a lasting remembrance of Josh for his parents so that they can remember the joy their son got out of hunting
