Meet Thumper ❤️🐾
A415719, Male, 75 LBS, Heartworm Positive
Thumper is a 3-year-old Great Pyrenees mix who recently came into the shelter as a stray. This gentle boy has a large, ulcerated mass on the top of his head near the base of his right ear. While we’re doing our best to keep him comfortable with medication, the mass appears painful and needs to be surgically removed. Depending on the type of mass, Thumper may also require follow-up treatment.

He was microchipped, but sadly, his former owner is unable to reclaim him. Despite everything he’s going through, Thumper has remained incredibly sweet with people and is always happy to take a treat.

We are urgently seeking a rescue group to take over his care—someone who can provide the surgery and recovery support he deserves. Thumper’s future is uncertain, but with the right help, he has a chance to heal and thrive.

These Seven underage puppies, each weighing around 5 pounds and approximately 8 weeks old, recently made their way to the shelter thanks to a kind Good Samaritan who found them in rough shape. It’s clear they’ve had a difficult start to life—these little ones are battling coccidia, hookworms, roundworms, and scabies.

They are currently receiving treatment for all of these conditions, but what they really need now is a quiet, comfortable place to rest and heal. A foster or rescue could make all the difference by providing the TLC they’ve been missing.

If you can help give these puppies a fresh start, please reach out. They may be small, but their will to survive is strong—and with your support, their future can be bright.

At an estimated 14 years old, sweet Aubrey found her way to the shelter after a recent storm, soaked from the rain and in need of a safe place to land. Life at the shelter can be overwhelming for any dog—but for seniors like Aubrey, it’s especially tough.

She moves slowly, likely due to arthritis and carrying a bit of extra weight, but don’t let that fool you—Aubrey still perks up for snacks and wags her tail for gentle pets and attention. She may not have much time left, but what she wants most is something simple: a warm bed, kind hands, and a quiet place to rest.

We’re looking for a rescue, foster, or adopter to help Aubrey spend her golden days in comfort. If you have room in your heart and home for a senior soul in need, please reach out. Aubrey deserves to know the warmth of a loving home and the joy of being cherished. 💛

❤️Santana A409381, 8 Months, Neutered Male, 57lbs, Heartworm Negative❤️
That’s far too long for any puppy, especially one like Santana, who desperately needs structure, consistency, and training to thrive. Instead, he’s grown up in a stressful, overstimulating environment that is starting to take a toll on his behavior.

Santana is very mouthy and becomes very difficult to manage during cleaning and medical handling, often lunging when restrained and nipping people that pass by. He has also shown signs of possible food aggression and should not be placed in a home with small children. Despite his challenges, Santana has successfully shared a kennel with other dogs and continues to be co-housed without issue. There’s potential in this young dog—but he needs more than the shelter can provide. Santana needs an experienced adopter or rescue who understands that puppies require more than just love. They need routine. Boundaries. Patience. Without those things, they struggle—and Santana is struggling.

❤️Turner A409673, 3 Year, Neutered Male, 69lbs, Heartworm Negative❤️
This sweet, social dog is struggling in the shelter environment. Turner has a history of multiple scuffles with kennel mates and, for his safety and theirs, he can no longer share a kennel at the shelter. While he has shown positive interactions with other dogs in the play yard and on a recent field trip, the stress of the kennel environment brings out behaviors that make it unsafe for him to be housed with other dogs.

Outside of the kennel, Turner is a completely different dog. He loves people, seeks out affection, and will happily curl up in your lap for cuddles. In the yard, he gets the zoomies and enjoys engaging with other dogs through the fence, showing no signs of reactivity—just a playful spirit looking for connection. Turner is a wonderful dog who needs structure, routine, and a calm environment to thrive.

❤️Nesta A410208 4Yr, Spayed Female, 60lbs, Heartworm Positive❤️
Nesta is a loving, affectionate dog who adores people and craves companionship—but the shelter environment has been tough on her. After multiple fights with kennelmates, she can no longer be safely cohoused and is now single kenneled. Because of her history, Nesta would do best as the only dog in the home.

Despite her challenges in the shelter, Nesta has shown promising behavior outside of that stressful environment. She displays no reactivity through the fence in the play yard and recently had a positive interaction with another dog during an offsite field trip. Nesta truly shines when she’s the center of attention. Nesta loves people, leans in for affection, and would be happiest in a calm, loving home where she can cuddle up and feel secure.

❤️Truman A410700 2Yr, Neutered Male, 76lbs, Heartworm Positive❤️
This handsome, people-loving pup has been struggling in the shelter. While Truman once shared a kennel, he was involved in multiple scuffles and can no longer be safely cohoused. Attempts to pair him in the yard haven’t been successful either, as he often mounts other dogs—making it clear that group settings are not a good fit for him right now, and he would be best as an only dog.

But Truman shines with people. He loves playing fetch, walks beautifully on a leash, and has a great time soaking up attention from volunteers. He’s social, engaged, and eager to please when he’s in a calm, one-on-one environment. Truman is a good dog simply not suited for the stress and constant stimulation of shelter life. He needs a home or a rescue that can offer him structure, consistency, and the human connection he craves. Please help us find Truman the right place to land.

Update: Safe with Long Way Home Adoptables
🌻Sally A414170, 13 Years old,Spayed Female HW+🌻
Sally is a 13-year-old spayed female who recently came into our care after her owner, facing health concerns, could no longer care for her. Now this sweet senior finds herself in a loud, unfamiliar shelter—and it's taking a toll. She’s heartworm positive and currently struggling with an upper respiratory infection. Her eyes are cloudy, and she may have lost some vision. Sally has cloudy eyes and may have experienced some vision loss, but that doesn’t stop her from seeking affection. While she’s not a fan of being picked up, she loves being petted and especially enjoys gentle ear scratches. She’s also very food motivated, which has been helpful for building trust.

Senior dogs like Sally deserve to spend their golden years in a quiet, loving home—not in a kennel. She would greatly benefit from a rescue or adopter willing to give her the comfort and care she needs.

Update: Safe with Long Way Home Adoptables
🌹Suzie, A413800, 15 Years old, Spayed Female, HW-🌹
Meet Suzie, a 15-year-old Chihuahua who recently came into our care in rough shape. Upon arrival, she had a large necrotic wound on her belly. Thankfully, our veterinary team was able to clean and close it during surgery, and also removed part of her mammary chain to support her recovery. Suzie also has significant dental disease—several teeth were removed during surgery, but she would still benefit from a full dental procedure. She is mildly anemic, but radiographs showed no thoracic masses.
Despite all she’s been through, Suzie is incredibly sweet and affectionate. She loves people and just wants a cozy spot to rest her tiny head. The shelter is a tough place for any dog, but especially for seniors like Suzie who need comfort and calm. We’re seeking a rescue or adopter to take over her care and give her the soft landing she deserves. Do you have a warm place in your heart—and your home—for this lovely little lady?

🌷Blossom A414170, 7 Years old, HW-🌷
Blossom came into our care through Animal Control after being reported for difficulty walking. Severely matted and covered in debris, urine, and f***s, it’s clear life on the streets has not been kind to this little pup. Her paw pads are raw and abraded—possibly from walking on hot asphalt. During her medical exam, we found she’s able to bear weight on her hind legs but often limps and lifts her right leg, especially when trying to jump. Under sedation, veterinarians diagnosed her with bilateral medial luxating patellas. She also has Grade 3 dental disease with moderate tartar buildup and a large bladder stone. Blossom is currently being treated for coccidia and has been given medication to help keep her comfortable, but she would greatly benefit from a rescue group stepping in to take over her care .

Can you help Blossom? She would greatly benefit from rescue placement to get the specialized care she needs. Blossom is looking for a soft place to land—a calm, caring environment where she can begin to heal. If your organization can assist, please contact the shelter as soon as possible. 🚨 9 Puppies in Need of Foster or Rescue! 🚨

These nine sweet puppies—only FOUR WEEKS OLD—arrived at the shelter today without their mom. 💔 They’re already eating wet food on their own, but they’re still far too young to be in the shelter environment.

We’re urgently looking for FOSTER or RESCUE placement for these little ones. They can go to foster in groups of 2–3 and weigh between 2–5 lbs. A quiet, cozy space and some TLC is all they need to grow big and strong. In just a few weeks, they'll be adoption-ready!

🌟A412538, 5 Months Old, Female, HW-🌟
This sweet 5-6 month-old puppy was brought in today by one of our Animal Control Officers. She weighs just 8 pounds and her tiny body is covered in scabs. A skin scrape confirmed that she is suffering from both demodex and sarcoptic mange.
She arrived covered in a bright purple substance—likely Wound-Kote or Blue Lotion, an over-the-counter livestock spray that someone may have applied in an attempt to soothe her painful skin. Her entire body shows signs of irritation, and she appears to be in pain even with small movements. Her lymph nodes in the groin area are noticeably swollen, which could be a sign of infection or inflammation.

We’re doing all we can to keep her comfortable, but she truly needs the help of a rescue group that can provide the medical care and gentle healing she deserves. This little girl has a long road ahead, but with the right support, she has every chance to thrive.

🚨Mistaken for Trash—Three Puppies Need Rescue🚨

A good Samaritan spotted a box on the side of the road, thinking it was trash—until they looked inside. Instead, they found three 10-week-old puppies, their eyes swollen shut, their faces covered in scabs and fresh wounds.A skin scrape confirmed they have demodex mange, which is not contagious but requires treatment and time to heal. They need urgent medical care and a safe place outside the shelter. A rescue group would give them the best chance at recovery.

Kobe and Scottie are brothers who arrived at the shelter in June 2024, along with several other dogs. Both have struggled in the shelter environment, and the stress of kennel life is taking a toll on them.

Initially timid and unsure, both dogs have made great progress in gaining confidence with the help of staff and volunteers; however, they are sometimes still unsure of new people. The shelter stress & environment has led to consistent gastrointestinal issues for both, along with compulsive circling in their kennels. While Kobe has worn his muzzle from rubbing against the gate, Scottie seems to be struggling even more—his circling has increased, and he has lost a significant 10 pounds, leaving him visibly underweight.

Kobe and Scottie have done well when co-kenneled together, and they appear much calmer when they have each other for comfort, but they have struggled to be co-kenneled with other dogs. These boys need someone who can provide stability, patience, and a quiet space where they can truly decompress.
