🐾Feline Fact Friday!🐾
🦷 Did you know cats, just like humans, go through a teething process? Kittens first develop a set of baby (deciduous) teeth, which they later lose as their adult teeth grow in. Unlike us, kittens often swallow their baby teeth, so you might not even notice when they’re gone!
Your veterinarian can use these teeth changes to help determine a kitten’s age. Around 4-7 months, some kittens may develop bad breath as part of the teething process—totally normal!
In rare cases, a kitten might retain one or more baby teeth. This can lead to crowding, trapped food particles, and increased tartar buildup. If this happens, your vet may recommend removing the retained tooth to keep their mouth healthy.
