ISO morning help at dressage barn in Croom. Chimney Hill Farm offers an indoor with great footing and fans, an outdoor dressage ring, matted stalls with windows and safe turbo fans, plenty of turnout, and experienced care. I need someone to feed, turn out/bring in horses depending on weather, and clean stalls (approximately 1.5 hours).......ideally in exchange for board and lessons. This is a small barn with the nicest, drama-free boarders anywhere, so if you're the same type person, and are interested in having your horse in a great place, please DM me!

Chimney Hill Farm is so grateful to have Katie Riley return for clinics -- our first clinic is scheduled for June 29th and 30th! Katie is an incredible instructor, and she can help you bring along any horse from very green to Grand Prix. Additionally, Katie will be coming for clinics year round so it's a great opportunity to establish continuity in your training with a top rider. Today we honored the life of one of the finest people I've ever known: William Bunky Diggs. Bunky helped here at the farm for many years and was very loved by everyone. Bunky hated 2 things - snakes and pizza - but he dearly loved his family and friends.......and horses. He went to horse pulls and the racetrack, and he came to the local shows to cheer on "his horses". When one of his favorites developed cushings, Bunky had a constant supply of sugar-free root beer candy for him. If one of the riders was having a problem, Bunky always said he was going to get his boots and take the horse for "a ride down the power lines". And when he brought a horse in for the night, he always talked with him: "Hello, I'm Mr. Diggs and I'll be taking care of you tonight". I'm sure he's with Pearl......and a field full of horses. ❤️

We lost a much-loved horse here at Chimney Hill Farm this past week. Julia Claypool's "Bella" was here for over 16 years. Always a sweet mare, she tried her best every day -- and even surprised us by learning to do a flying change! She willingly performed for everyone who ever rode her -- Anne Petrenko was lucky to ride her the last few years and learned so much from her. Many of us will miss her galloping up the hill in her field as fast as she could go.....rest in peace sweet girl. ❤️

Now that our year of clinics with Katie Riley has come to a close, I want to extend my thanks to a number of people. First, Katie, we're all so appreciative of your efforts this year! You take time from a busy schedule and you've helped us all immeasurably! Thank you to my students here at Chimney Hill who supported and participated in the clinics -- I really appreciate it! Thank you to the new riders who trailered here this year, and I'm hoping to see you all again next year. And a special thank you to my sister-in-law, Sharon ❤️, who turned out my horses beautifully and made it easy for me to ride more than one (I'm so lucky!) (I'm including videos of my two geldings: tall and elegant, and shorter with hind legs that always beg to piaffe 😊)

October 8 and 9!! It's time to welcome back USDF gold medallist, Katie Riley, for another one of her fabulous clinics! Unfortunately, one rider had an emergency and needs to cancel so we'd love to have a other rider (or even 2) join us! Even if you come to audit, it's virtually impossible to go home without some valuable new insight about your riding!!

Looking for someone who would like to keep their horse at a top facility with an indoor (great footing!) for the winter........in exchange for some barn help while I have horses in Florida. Only 6 horses (and one lives out in a run-in) - chores are varied and not difficult, and not necessarily every day. January, February, and March in Croom/Upper Marlboro. Experience handling horses and reliable transportation required. Pm me if interested.

I can't say enough nice things about these 2 ladies: Theresa Keyes and her daughter, Cait Fiolka of "Cate & Theresa - Maryland Certified Saddle Fitters". They were kind enough to let 4 nitwit women who arrived after the open house was over....come in and shop anyway. 🙄 And as always, their shop is chocked full of the very best tack and apparel!
But more importantly, my entire barn rides in Custom Saddles and we have them to thank for their expertise in keeping our saddles beautifully fit to our horses! I don't say it often enough, but we all appreciate the two of you soooo much!!!

The next generation! This is my youngest student at 8 years old and what fun it is to work with her! Today, for the first time, we worked together on getting her pony round (these harder tasks she refers to as the "secret dressage things") and to her mother's and my surprise, she kept him round for most of her ride. She even sat some bucks and rode up a very steep hill for the first time -- made my day! ❤️ (Her mother does an outstanding job at home teaching her on her pony 😊)
