Our adoptions happen on a first come, first served basis. You must be 18 years or older to adopt.

To view animals available for adoption, visit the website 24Petconnect.com under "adopt a pet" ,enter zip code 20772, and select Prince Georges County Animal Services Division to view the available animals in the facility. Please visit us at 3750 Brown Station Road in Upper Marlboro, MD during our normal business hours (Tuesday-Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

). You do not need to be a resident of Prince George's county to adopt a pet from us! Animals are placed as household pets only. You are not permitted to adopt animals for guarding, hunting or mousers. In accordance with Prince George's County law, all female pets MUST be spayed and all male pets neutered. Animals adopted out will be spayed/neutered before going home. If a medical condition prohibits spay/neuter at the time of adoption, a contract will be signed to bring the pet back for spay/neuter surgery at a later date. The animal must be maintained in accordance with the licensing and other laws of the community in which it resides and be provided with routine and emergency veterinary care as required. It is the objective of the Animal Services Division to place pets from the Facility in the most suitable home available for both the pet and the family. We reserve the right not to place an animal, to refuse or deny any application, or to make recommendations to consider another selection.

We are so excited to announce that ASD is partnering up with Eagle Scout Brayden Jackson in collecting enrichment items for our shelter animals and we need YOUR help!

Bryaden is coordinating a Donation Drive scheduled for Saturday February 8th from 10am-2pm. Brayden's drive is geared towards collecting as many water pails as possible for our shelter dogs. The goal is to collect 250 and we have 32 so far!

TEEEEFF!! 😍😍😍

Our Volunteers are raving about Marley A554291, a 10yr old female American Bulldog mix. This sweet senior girl has captured the hearts of our volunteers and staff, this is what they are saying about her!!

Marley is a sweet and gentle girl who loves going for walks. She’s easy to leash up and walks nicely right by your side. Marley seems to be housebroken—she did her business right away outside and even made sure to finish up before heading back inside. She takes treats gently and wags her tail happily when you pet her. She knows sit and waited patiently for a treat- no barking or pawing. Snow and ice don’t bother her one bit, even with her short coat. This sweet older gal is just looking for a nice, soft, warm retirement home. She’s pretty good on leash once she does her business outside right away! She walked alongside another dog nicely but doesn’t like those young bouncy dogs in her face. She takes treats gently but has a seemingly crooked jaw….you can see her crooked little smile. Easy to leash up and no problems leading her back to her kennel. What a good girl! Whether it's a walk around the block or just some cuddle time, Marley is ready to be your loyal companion. Come meet Marley and see what a wonderful addition she’d be to your home!

If you have found stray kittens in your neighborhood, there are important steps to follow to ensure your safety and the kittens safety.
Those steps include:

If the kitten is injured or visibly sick, call Animal Control
at (301) 780-7200 and press 1.
Observe from a distance.
Avoid handling.

Wait 10-12 hours before moving them in case their mother returns.

ASD would like to remind everyone of the importance of microchipping AND registering your pet!

Keep your furry friends safe by ensuring they are microchipped. Microchips are small transponders implanted under your pet’s skin between the shoulder blades. They provide an extra form of identification if your pet loses their collar and tag while missing. If your pet ends up at a veterinary clinic or an animal shelter, staff will scan your pet for a microchip and contact the brand the chip is registered under to get your name and phone number. Pets with microchips are more likely to be returned to their owners!

Once microchipping your pet, please make sure to register the chip by calling the microchip company and giving them your up-to-date info.

ASD loves to receive adoption updates!!! 🐾💛💚

Do you guys remember Dakota? Who is now named Juni Fury, she was adopted in January and is now living her BEST life!

Her adoptive family is extremely pleased with her, and this is the update that they shared:

"She is a very good girl, and a perfect addition to our family. She has proven that she is smart and sensitive as she's able to figure out what we want even if she can't understand English and the four of us can't seem to keep our commands consistent...lol. She's learned to car travel and ride elevators to visit the grands who live in a high rise. She knows she's in her forever home. I was so grateful to you and PGC ASD that I've donated a bed so that the dogs will have a nice bed to sleep on."

⚠Urgent Need for Kuranda Beds!!!⚠

Consider Donating Now!

Due to our high volume of intakes, we are having a shortage of Kuranda beds, and we are asking our community to Show Some Love and donate a Kuranda bed. We are also looking for NEW bedding or towels and toys for their merriment (cat toys, Kongs, Nylabones, frisbees).

As part of enrichment programs, we are looking for shelter-approved toys that help keep animals entertained and occupied with mental stimulation while at the shelter. This can help their true personalities shine through despite being stressed. For recommendations on donations, visit our enrichment item wishlist here.
Our kennel still needs donated items such as new bedding, cleaning supplies, and foster items such as scales or kitten milk. Please see the kennel supply wishlist here.
We are not currently accepting used bedding, pillows, stuffed animals, plush toys, or items with stuffing.

In addition, ASD is strongly encouraging donations of Kuranda beds of all sizes for our doggie friends. There are lots of benefits for pets sleeping on Kuranda Beds, including:

Ying has been adopted and is no longer available, but we wanted to use this opportunity to highlight the important work of our kennel staff.

Our kennel staff, which includes our animal care attendants, vet techs, groomer, our assistant kennel managers (pictured) and our kennel manager are all tasked with the daily care of all of our shelter pets, and they do an amazing job!! We want to take this opportunity to thank them for the wonderful care and extra TLC that they all give our shelter animals.

🏆 Kiba A554630, our adoptable pup is sporting his Washington Commanders colors and is ready to join your team!! 🏆

Kiba is a 3yr old tan (red) male terrier mix that came into the shelter as a stray and has been here since 01/09. This is what our volunteer has to say about him:

Meet Kiba, a sweet and patient boy who’s ready to find his forever home! Kiba showed good kennel manners and waited calmly for his turn to go for a walk. Once outside, he immediately went potty several times, and his clean kennel suggests he may be housebroken.

Kiba’s energy blossomed outdoors as he happily ran around the pen, chasing toys. He knows the 'sit' command and responds well to treats, making him a smart boy. With his healthy fur and ideal weight, it’s clear he was well cared for, suggesting that he likely had a home before arriving at the shelter.

Kiba is a loving and affectionate dog and he’s looking for a family who can provide him with the love and care he deserves. Could Kiba be the perfect addition to your home?
