Time to discuss what is and is NOT safe to feed your dog on Thanksgiving. We don't want to see anyone at the emergency vet on Thanksgiving Day because their dog is suffering from canine pancreatitis. Keep those fur-babies safe during the holidays.

Patrick (A553395)

Patrick has mesmerizing eyes and a sweet soul. He was quiet in his kennel and easy to leash up. He wasn’t bothered walking by the barking dogs. Once outside, Patrick went potty right away.
This handsome boy knows ‘sit’ and gently takes treats from your hand. He met a dog through the fence who kept barking at him and he was like, what the heck is that dog barking at me for? Patrick met another dog through the fence but wasn’t concerned. He was more interested in smelling all the smells the outside world has to offer.
He sat down with me outside and appreciated some love and pets. With his great smile and beautiful eyes, Patrick will be a pawfect companion for someone.

Patrick A553395

Get ready to fall head over heels for Patrick—a truly stunning pup who looks like he stepped straight off a doggy runway! With his striking white coat, adorable black-spotted nose, and those mesmerizing eyes on his perfectly large head, Patrick turns heads everywhere he goes.

But he’s not just about looks—Patrick is a happy-go-lucky goofball who’s here to bring laughter and joy into your life. He knows “sit,” takes treats gently. He’s easy to leash but could use a bit of training to perfect his walking skills. Once you’re out and about, he’ll be attentive to you, often leaning on your leg asking for pets—he’s the perfect blend of cuddly and playful!
If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate, and jaw-droppingly gorgeous companion, Patrick is ready to be your new best friend.

We are so surprised that Mary Ann A553464 has not gotten any adoption interest. Sweet Marry Ann is a 10-year-old, 7-pound sweetheart looking for a warm lap for her retirement. When carried outside to go potty, Marry Ann immediately did her business and sniffed around to explore. Although Marry Ann has lost her vision, she is still curious to smell all the things and enjoys sniffing safely on her leash. It was the slowest sniffari ever, but adorable nonetheless.

Marry Ann enjoys the snuggles and would do well with a low activity and gentle family. Marry Ann would make an excellent tv watching partner and is perfectly lap sized for all laps.

If you have the space for this tiny girl and can promise some snuggles and pets, Marry Ann would be the pawfect partner!

We are going to be open Tuesday and Wednesday of this week 10am-6pm and invite you to come and meet these adoptable cuties! Please arrive 1hr early if you wish to apply on an animal. Our normal hours of operations are below.

Good morning!

We would like to share the success of our facility within the last couple of days:

10 adoptions on 11/22
10 Return to owners 11/22
16 Adoptions on 11/23
1 Return to owner 11/23

This is AMAZING NEWS!! We would like to congratulate our shelter staff, our volunteers for always being willing to jump in and assist, and of course our wonderful community, who recognizes our crisis and is willing and eager to make our life saving success possible.

We want to keep this momentum going and will be highlighting some adoptable dogs available for adoption:

Mario A553419
Mario is a cutie with half of a tail. He wasn’t bothered by the barking dogs we walked by or the doggo we saw outside. He pottied right away also. He could use some basic training around tugging on his leash but that can just be stress from the scary shelter. He is a really lovely boy. And loves to love, giving kisses and half tail wags.
Mario knows ‘sit’ and would love to learn more commands! He loves treats and takes them gently. Mario loves to snuggle and to just be close. He’s the perfect balance of fun and lover boy.
Mario seemed to want to play but looked a bit nervous when I threw a toy. He may not have been shown kindness before. But, his spirit is bright. Mario preferred slow movements. He deserves a loving home where he can get the proper love he deserves. Because he will give it back for sure. Come meet sweet Mario!

Gracie A553458

Sweet Gracie waited patiently t for her turn to be walked. She was the second to last dog that I walked. She was quiet in her kennel and easy to leash up. Once outside, Gracie pottied right away. When you talk to her, she wags her tail. She’s very cute. She loves treats and takes them gently. She has a calm energy and is a good with the flow kind of gal.
Gracie jumped up on the bench with me and showered me with kisses. She’s a lovely girl. Come meet her and adopt your new best friend!

Dior A553479

Dior is quiet in his kennel and easy to leash up, showing me his belly in his kennel while he patiently waited his turn for a walkie. Dior is easy to walk on a leash and stay by your side, offering a wagging tail the whole time. He pottied several times outside and might be housebroken.
Dior offered me more belly outside and loves to love, offering kisses as a return. He will lean in for some affection. Dior wasn’t too interested in toys or treats; he really just wanted attention. I of course obliged. Come meet your new companion. He’s pretty awesome.

Yesterday we had 7 adoptions, and 8 animals returned to their owners!!! WOOHOOOO!!

Dog Adoptions Resume at County Shelter

Effective Friday, November 15, the Prince George’s County Animals Services Facility and Adoption Center (ASFAC) resumed all activities. Halting dog adoptions and viewings for two days allowed staff to initiate protocols to stop the spread of disease. ASFAC was able to restrict the illness to our intake room due to protocols put in place within our facility.
