We hope that everyone is having a HAPPY HOWLOWEEN! Our facility will be open to the public today and we want everyone to come and meet some of our shelters SWEETEST dogs!

Sheba A552095- 3yr old fawn female Presa mix that came into our facility after her owner passed away.

Woody- A552249 1yr old brown male Terrier mix that came in as a stray.

Sunflower A552250 - 2yr old female black and white terrier mix looking for a FURever home. She came in as a stray, emaciated with patches of fur missing from her coat. While here she has become a staff favorite with her sweet disposition, she LOVES dog group play and gets along with ALL dogs!

All of these dogs are looking for their FURever home, we continue to run our October adoption promo that allows all dog and cat adoption fees to be $31!!

Good evening community,

We put out a plea for volunteers and we are so excited to announce that OUR COMMUNITY ANSWERED!!!! This past Saturday we had THE LARGEST volunteer orientation attendance with approximately 40 new volunteers!

We want to shout out our UMD student dog walking groups that do such a wonderful job walking dogs, socializing cats and small mammals. We appreciate you all!

Our next orientation is this Wednesday November 13th at 6pm here at our facility!

Hello everyone!

We want to highlight the importance of a good groom! Pictured is Kool Aid, a dog that was found as a stray. He awaited his stray hold time and was adopted very quickly!

One of our wonderful volunteers was able to capture a before and after photo of Kool Aid and although he has been adopted, we wanted to take this opportunity to highlight the benefits of grooming your pet:

Happy National Cat Day!

Today is National Cat Day and to celebrate that we would like to highlight some adoptable cats.

Captain 551783 - a 6month white and gray tiger neutered male that came in as an owner surrender. This sweet little white and black/grey tabby guy is a bit shy but will warm up in a loving home.

Loki A551781 - 6month gray tiger neutered male that came in as an owner surrender. This sweet black/gray tabby tuxedo boy is a bit shy but will warm up in a loving home.

Hera A551928 - 4yr old female gray tabby that came in as a stray, she has awaited her stray hold and is now ready for her FURever home! Hera has absolutely gorgeous black and gray tabby markings and deep, all-knowing eyes. She's a little reserved but warms up quickly.

ASD had the pleasure of recently attended a blendVet event at one of Prince George's County Imagine Charter schools. Under the supervision of Dr. Owens, our shelter pets participated in several mock veterinary medicine stations.

Some of our shelter pets got to have a break of the animal shelter and get lots of love from middle schoolers! We were so proud to support BLENDVETS initiative in creating an inclusive space and culture in Veterinary medicine.

Shelter is Still Critical - Adopt Now!

We want to thank our community, on October 26, 2024, we had 18 pets adopted and 14 went into foster! A big thank you to our community for assisting us in placing our shelter pets. We are still running our “Adopt a Boo” adoptions promotion throughout the month of October and invite everyone to come and get a FURever Boo!!

Despite the successes, the Prince George's County Animal Services and Adoption Facility is in CRITICAL need of finding loving, FURever homes for its dogs, especially its larger and senior dogs.

Without IMMEDIATE help, we face the heart-wrenching possibility of finding alternative solutions for healthy, adoptable dogs awaiting their best friend.

Our Animal Services Facility is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, Tue – Fri; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sat; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (please arrive one hour prior to closing), and is ready to help you find and adopt. For more information and to see pets ready to be adopted, visit www.princegeorgespets4us.com.

10th Anniversary of the Green Summit

Was a Doggone Great Success!

The 10th anniversary of the Green Summit, held on October 19th at David C. Driskell Community Park in Hyattsville, was a huge success because several dogs were adopted and found loving homes. Volunteers paraded the dogs throughout the park showcasing these special pets providing them an opportunity to interact with potential new owners.

We had the pleasure of seeing Butter at our 10th annual Green Summit and she a well-behaved gentle lady! Her and Bailey AKA Lovebug got along so well, and she loved all the pets and ear scratches she got from everyone.
