Our adoptions happen on a first come, first served basis. You must be 18 years or older to adopt.

To view animals available for adoption, visit the website 24Petconnect.com under "adopt a pet" ,enter zip code 20772, and select Prince Georges County Animal Services Division to view the available animals in the facility. Please visit us at 3750 Brown Station Road in Upper Marlboro, MD during our normal business hours (Tuesday-Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

). You do not need to be a resident of Prince George's county to adopt a pet from us! Animals are placed as household pets only. You are not permitted to adopt animals for guarding, hunting or mousers. In accordance with Prince George's County law, all female pets MUST be spayed and all male pets neutered. Animals adopted out will be spayed/neutered before going home. If a medical condition prohibits spay/neuter at the time of adoption, a contract will be signed to bring the pet back for spay/neuter surgery at a later date. The animal must be maintained in accordance with the licensing and other laws of the community in which it resides and be provided with routine and emergency veterinary care as required. It is the objective of the Animal Services Division to place pets from the Facility in the most suitable home available for both the pet and the family. We reserve the right not to place an animal, to refuse or deny any application, or to make recommendations to consider another selection.

So I’ve walked at least 300 dogs at the Prince George County shelter. And let me tell you, Eddie is a stand out!

You want a cute dog - Eddie’s got it

You want a dog who’s happy - Eddie’s got it

You want a dog who follows your every move and loves to interact with humans - Eddie’s got it

You want a dog who does well in puppy playgroup - Eddie’s got it

You want a dog who’s easy to walk - Eddie’s got it

You want a dog who is small enough to fit in even the smallest apartment? -Eddie’s got it

You want a dog to brighten your day and keep you company on those rainy afternoons? Eddie’s got it

Eddie is one of a kind and he is the complete package. He’s young, he’s handsome. He’s outgoing, he’s friendly. He has a smile that lights up the room. I still can’t believe someone let this wonderful dog out of their life.

Folks, this is the dog - put the phone down, put the iPad down and come and visit us at Prince George’s County Animal Shelter, and ask to meet Eddie. Your life will never be the same!

Eddie is especially reserved for the lucky adopters residing outside of Prince Georges County.

Good afternoon community!

On September 10th, we had 10 animals adopted, 15 went to rescue, and 1 was returned to their owner!

Max (A554101)

If Max were human, he would be the Homecoming King!

Max has those soulful eyes and a happy smile; with one look I was smitten. I had to take this big lovable lug outside and let him romp in the fresh air and sunshine.

Once outside we toured the yard stopping to the sniff all the interesting smells.
Max doesn’t realize how big he is. He just loves to go for a walk and he loves people. At one point, he tried to join the parade of dogs and cats getting in the shuttle van to go to an adoption event! LOL

At about 18 months old, Max has reached his adult size and has many happy years ahead of him.

If you’re looking for an energetic dog who’s got the smarts to learn his commands easily and provide companionship for adventures or for family outings. Max is your guy.

And the best news is Max is available to adopt all adopters!

Meet Tyreek!

Tyreek is a five-year-old American Bulldog mix with a big heart and an even bigger wish—to be your one and only. While he’s not interested in sharing the spotlight with other dogs (he said, “no thanks!” to a pup outside), he absolutely lights up around people.

Tyreek soaks up attention, happily leaning into every pet and wagging along the way.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who wants all your love (and is ready to give it right back), Tyreek is your guy!

Tyreek is a happy, lively 5-year old American Bulldog mix.

He was easy to leash and easy to walk.

We made a break for the sunshine and fresh air and Tyreek was tail-wagging happy to be outdoors. He immediately did his business.

Tyreek ignored the noisy lawn maintenance crew, and was happy to dash about in the big playpen on the hill.

Tyreek does well in puppy playgroup and that behavior is a major plus.

At just under 50lbs Tyreek can fit into any size family.

His happy demeanor and handsome markings make him a standout.

🚨 URGENT NEED FOR SHELTER VOLUNTEERS! 🚨

Prince George’s County Animal Services is over capacity, and we need YOUR help more than ever! 🐾

Volunteers are the heartbeat of our shelter—they walk and train dogs, socialize cats, help with feeding and cleaning, support adoptions at offsite events, and so much more. Without enough volunteers, our animals miss out on the enrichment, love, and exercise they desperately need while waiting for their forever homes.

👉 We have upcoming orientations:

📅 Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 5 PM
📅 Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 10 AM

💡 Teens (14–17 years old) can complete required school service hours (non-animal handling tasks).

💡 Adults (18+) can work hands-on with animals after orientation and a facility tour.

Meet Leon – the King of Snacks and Naps

At about 6 years old and 14 pounds, Leon is living proof that love (and treats) make you grow. This chonky boy has never met a snack he didn’t like, and he’s not shy about asking for seconds. Sure, he could trim down a little, but we’re not about to spoil his vibe.

Leon is all about the good life: a snack, a nap (preferably in your lap), some head scratches, and someone to chat with when he’s feeling talkative. He’s the perfect match for anyone who appreciates a cat with personality, presence, and plenty of love to give.

Oh, and Leon says he’s totally open to a new name if you’ve got something fun in mind.
