Hi Everyone and welcome. My name is Sally St Clair and I am the ātop dogā at St Clair Pet Care. A private pet sitting service located in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey. I began offering this service about 2 years after I lost my 14 1/2 yr. old Westie, Harley. Thatās him in the photo above. He was the most precious dog Iāve ever had and Iāve had dogs all of my life. Losing him was so devastating that I have not been able to bring myself to be another dog mom.
Last year a friend of mine who owns Precious Petz, a 501-3C non-profit animal rescue adopted out a rescue from China to, coincidentally a nearby family. She called me and asked if I would keep her during the day for the family while they were away at work because the dog would not do well in a day care type setting and they did not want to leave her alone all day. I met the rescue named Cocoa as well as the family and it was a perfect match. I have been day sitting Cocoa now for about a year and a half now and it has been so amazing to have her with me and help this first time dog owning family.
6 months later, I began thinking about how I would feel every time I had to try to find a place for my Harley when I would go on vacation. I hated the thought of him being put in a crate at a boarding facility. He suffered from severe separation anxiety and that made me feel anxious too. I couldnāt trust just anyone or any place with him. That was my baby. My boy. My child! So the wheels in my head began turning. Gee, we have a 3500 square foot house with plenty of room. We have a nice big backyard. Itās not fenced in, but thatās okay because we take them on nice quiet walks through the neighborhood and they are never off leash. Safety is my #1 priority for everyone. We live in a nice quiet neighborhood and I have so much love to give to other fur babies. Why not? There was absolutely no question in my mind. Yes! I will offer private pet sitting services to the families in my community who travel and donāt want their babies to be stressed out, anxious or afraid while they are away. So St Clair Pet Care was born. Iāve never looked back and itās helped to fill that void of not having my Harley boy, but he is forever in my heart.
