Lobito continues to shine in his new home....and he has a new job (and yet another new coat):

From his Mom:
"Some photos of yesterday when we went to Amherst College Robert Frost Library to give students some stress relief as they head into finals week.
He was such a great companion, snuggling up with students for 2 hours! "

Stella is looking for a loving home.
Stella has a lot of love to give! She loves to play with her doggie siblings and run around the yard. She is very enthusiastic about everything. She is fully housebroken, spayed and up-to-date on vaccines.

She was born in Arkansas in January 2024 and has been fostered in New England. Stella is an adorable smaller tree walker coonhound mix. She weighs about 45 pounds and is black & white.

Stella likes to go for walks and has been swimming at the lake. She is very playful and will pick out lots of toys to play alone or with her parents.

She is a brave girl who is very curious and energetic. She likes to see what is going on. Stella is a super greeter – who warmly welcomes you like you’ve been gone a week. She is good with kids.

It is highly recommended that her new home has a large yard with a high fence (if you have one.) This breed can climb fences easily -- though Stella will not go far. If no fence, that's o.k. if you can take her for nice long walks.

Not cat tested. No birds or small animals.

For more info on this cutie call 508 353 3777 or email [email protected]. (small rehoming fee) PLEASE SHARE, thanks!

So I'm sure Zoe is saying "Let me in lady, I'm ready"! This little girl is still looking for a home. She's a small (15 lbs) middle aged girl who is very laid back and I'm calling her Miss Indepedence. She loves to nose around, ignores the other dogs (or puts them in their place) and pretty much does what she wants. She's a funny little Podenga and would be an awesome companion...and she loves to nap most of the day. Zoe, do you know you have snow on your nose? (Email [email protected] for more info) please share❤️

Giving Tuesday is tomorrow and we hope you will help. Here's Lobito who came to us emaciated. His teeth were rotten and in the pound I imagine he didn't get his share of food before it was gone. We did a dental on him - 20 teeth pulled. Now he eats like a champ and is healthy. This is another dog we took in and took responsibility for, it was expensive. But Lobito is so worth it, happiest dog ever! Please donate so we can continue. You can go to www.greyhoundrescuene.org or the facebook post below to donate. Thank you♥️♥️

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all of you. We have so much to be grateful for. Our dogs love you all♥️

Guess who is adopted? Lobito!! He's going to be in heaven and have the best life. I'm so happy for this sweet dog who spent his life in the pound in Portugal. Thanks to so many kind folks at Bring Portuguese Podengos to Light who saved this guy ♥️♥️

This is important to know.....

TRIGGER STACKING – WHEN BEHAVIOUR HAPPENS “OUT OF THE BLUE”

We’ve all had those days when nothing seems to go right and one frustrating thing after another happens to us, leaving us feeling wound up, stressed and ready to explode at the next unsuspecting person who dares to ask us something.

This “unsuspecting” person may think we have a serious behaviour problem or need anger management therapy, when the truth is that we’ve just had a really bad day or even a few bad days and don’t usually behave like this at all.

Dogs are no different and a behaviour that seems completely out of character or happens “out of the blue” is often caused by “trigger stacking”.

A trigger may be anything that increases a dog’s stress levels and has a negative impact on their emotional, mental or physical state.

These may be small things that we may not even notice or seem insignificant to us, but they are all adding to an increasing “stack” of events that may culminate in out of character behaviour.

When stress levels reach a certain point, the next stressful event, however small, may cause an explosive reaction that is completely unexpected.

Instead of just focusing on a particular behaviour and seeing it as a problem that needs to be prevented, take a step backwards, look at the bigger picture, look at events, circumstances or environmental factors that may have played a role leading up to that behaviour.

Being aware of potential stressors and allowing your dog time to decompress, relax and unwind for a few days will often mean the difference between “normal behaviour” and a behaviour that seems completely out of character.
