Halloween 2024 The Beet Bat
A lot of work prepping for the Shindig by staff and volunteers but there were moments of joy!
We kicked off our Shindig with a kid's concert by Farmer Jason (aka Jason Ringenberg). Our kid's events always have a touch of magic and this one had it to spare!

Farmer Jason
We will kick off Sola’s Shindig with a childrens’ concert at our Community Classroom (our original location) featuring Farmer Jason.
Farmer Jason, created by rock music icon Jason Ringenberg , uses music to both educate and entertain children about farm life and the beauty of nature. The character is inspired by his farming roots and passion for the outdoors.
Kids and families of all ages are welcome! Sola Gratia Farm-grown popcorn and refreshments will be served. This is a free event.

Time for a Shindig!
It is almost here. Saturday evening, join us for an open house of the new farm: our new building and fields, along with food, drink, the best company, and music with the one and only Jason Ringenberg! Complete with fire pits and a special Sola cocktail/mocktail!
The new farm is here. Let's celebrate!
We are celebrating our expansion this month. Our new acreage and facility will allow us to further serve and feed our community. October 19 is the big day with our Open House and Benefit in the evening and a free children's concert by Farmer Jason (Jason Ringenberg's alter ego) at 1 pm. Join us!

Shindig at Sola!
Do you have your Shindig tickets yet?!
If not, it's high time! The Benefit Concert & Open House on Saturday, October 19 is an event you don't want to miss. Tickets for the benefit concert available NOW at solagratiacsa.com/events
We wouldn't bring just any musician in for our Shindig, now would we? Jason Ringenberg is himself an Illinois farm boy and loves farming, the prairie and Illinois backroads. He even sings songs about tractors.
Jason will be doing a free children's show (as his alter ego) at 1:00 on Saturday, OCTOBER 19 as part of the celebration of our new farm! Later that night he'll perform after our Open House and Benefit. They'll be farm fresh food, cold drinks, great company and odes to things like tractors. We hope you join us. 🚜🚜🚜🚜

John used the late February warm weather to chisel plow some of our early plots! Chisel plowing allows an initial opening of soil to help start terminating cover crops and weeds, while maintaining most of the soil structure. Additionally it often allows the soil to dry a bit quicker after a spring rain, giving us more of a window to do the final tractor work in the field before planting.
These plots will get planted in early April with our spring bunching greens, cabbages, lettuce, onions, potatoes and more!
Behind the scenes of our popcorn process… this is called winnowing! The wind from the fan removes the lighter matter from the kernels, leaving us with lots of clean bins ready to pop! 💨🍿
It may seem like a small thing, but we're super excited that our driveway is COMPLETE! It's now much easier for us to access the production fields. Our staff got to drive on it for the first time today, bringing the harvest in!
In addition to the garlic planting, we recently procured the first 68 fruit and nut tree saplings that we'll be planting this fall! We also mowed down our summer cover crop, which was killed by the frost a few weeks ago, to allow us to do some soil prep for next year. Big things are going on at our new land!
