Here is an update on the horse we are treating for canker.
The first picture is day 1. Second picture is day 27-canker clear. She had some wetness in there called “bio-film” so we are treating that for 7 days and she is clear. We will keep a vigilant eye on this and see what happens next.

What color is this horse🤣? He LOVES the mud. I had a friend once that called him “Mr. Real Estate” because he was always taking up her pasture! Captain is usually black. He is a 7/8 Hackney Horse 1/8 Clydesdale. We bought him in Canada where they are called “Commercial Horses”. He acts like a 16H Hackney Pony!

CANKER!!! As horse owners we have either heard of, dealt with it or know someone who has. The dreaded hoof infection which is most common in draft breeds but can also be found in light horses as well. We have dealt with it and are dealing with it in one horse. We won’t bore you with our opinion because let’s face it, we know how opinions are so we leave it to the medical professionals.

We have been using a Canker Powder developed by Veterinarian Dr. Reilly along with a very good friend of his who is a farrier from West Chester, PA. It’s a 30 day protocol and we are having amazing results and we are just 13 days in. Tom and I wanted to share it with our horse community in hopes this may help if you are experiencing this infection that used to be a death sentence.

I am posting screenshots of two pages off of the site as well as two pictures of our horse on day 3 and day 13. We are halfway through the protocol.

Dr. Reilly is extremely passionate about his research and explains everything thoroughly throughout his documents on the site as well as on the phone. We encourage you to share this with your friends, farriers and veterinarians.

We went from pretty snow flakes falling this morning to wet and dreary this afternoon. They don’t mind it but they don’t have to be out in this. I guess I care too much for these beauties.

Nothing like having a nice full bin of clean, dry sawdust. Thanks to Cliff Hebert for always keeping us stocked up! Moving some to the barn today before the cold spell hits. Had my two supervisors watching🥰.

🥶🥶 It’s a bit cold out there today! It was about 15 degrees most of the day. We kept the critters in today. It was just plain down cold.

I think they are jealous of the other 7 that are in the barn! It sure is pretty and our horses add to the beauty. Shires, a Percheron and a Paint.
Inside the barn are 4 more Shires, a pony and 2 mini donkeys. Living their best life and so are we🥰
