What has been your experience if you are monitoring your step count while heeling to improve YOUR activity? This has been a fascinating experience for myself and Cadie. I'll comment with my team's experiences soon, stay tuned! Find a song or two, depending on how much time you want to spend heeling, and monitor how many steps you have put into that time!

Does anyone else "count" steps each day hoping to add up enough to feel you are improving your fitness? Brilliant idea just came to mind as I was practicing heeling and rightword with Cadie. My goal was to heel through 2 songs that match her gait beautifully and that she loves. It's about 6 minutes total. I wonder just how many steps that is for me? I challenge you to monitor your steps through one or two songs a day while heeling! Any one else want to join me in this New Year's week challenge? What a great way to get your team movement training and conditioning in for the entire team!

During week 4 of Preparing for the Nutcracker Fun Show, Cadie and I ran into some "challenges". Not every training session will go as planned. Congratulations to our newest Dogs Can Dance Champion Team: Jean Thompson and Team Thompson. I asked Jean what the Dogs Can Dance Challenge and the sport of canine musical freestyle meant to her and her team, and here is her response:

"Dogs Can Dance is my favorite freestyle organization because I can use my hands, arms and body to cue and perform with my dogs. I feel that I am really dancing with them. With having the video competitions, I was able to dance with my senior Papillon. I have had the pleasure of dancing with 3 other friends and their dogs in a group competition. Dogs Can Dance also gave me the opportunity to perform in a pairs routine. This is the only organization that has more than one judge. It is nice to receive more than one opinion on our performance. I have also enjoyed the ability to have all my dogs work together to receive titles in different divisions. I feel that Musical Freestyle is the most difficult dog sport and my favorite one. I have enjoyed the challenges, combined with using my creative abilities, to create a fun routine."
