Rebuilding the control tower!
Every airport needs a control tower! This one that was on the property was needing a makeover so we moved it to a better location and cleaned it up. Next we need a desk and the radios installed!
Can you guess what our next project is?!
The Work continues!
TIMBER! After a little break in the weather the work finally continues and watch out for the tree that almost sinks my cousins boat!
We Built Our Own Beach!🏖️✅
Project: Building our own private beach & seawall ✅ Completed
Well, we still have to add the crushed seashells along the waters edge but delivery for the seashells is still a few weeks out, so it’s time to move on the the next project for now!
Can anyone guess what we’re going to be working on next?🤔
A FLASH FLOOD?!?!😩
A FLASH FLOOD?!?! 🌧️☔️
….Well, today our plans to lay sand down on the beach were disrupted, as everything is now pretty much underwater😩
Construction won't happen today so,
Join me on a muddy & rainy morning routine with the animals!
Projects & Farrier Appointment Day
I’m not sure which was more surprising today, the way Phoenix tried to un-alive the farrier…..
or the way Eeyore rudely farted directly into the farriers face💨🤮
….I guess now I understand why the farrier said “even 20 horses isn’t as challenging as trying to trim one donkeys hooves”😅🤦♂️🤣
Today was really productive we got a lot of different projects done.
We started by moving an old carport over to the chicken coop, to repurpose it as an outdoor run for our feathered friends.
Next, we focused on creating an area specifically designated for manure management. We constructed a dedicated space to handle this part of the animals efficiently and cleanly.
Our main achievement of the day was completing the excavation of the beach area and laying sod on top of the surrounding wall. This step helped to provide stability and lock in any dirt from washing out before the grass can grow up.
We then proceeded to lay down the felt, which will serve as a foundation for the sand that we are adding tomorrow!
Our projects and construction activities were interrupted as we had to stop early for our monthly farrier appointment.
No matter what else we having going on during our days, we will always prioritize the well-being of our animals and tend to their needs first.
This months farriar appointment was full of excitement though with Eeyore managing to “blow away” the farrier with his special scent, and Phoenix almost caught a case of assault, adding a touch of unexpected entertainment to our day.
Can’t wait to see what we get into tomorrow!😅🤣
Putting in 1.5 Ton Bricks for our Seawall + Getting rid of hurricane debris in Charlotte's yard
It's the second day of our private beach construction journey, and we made significant progress! We focused on two main tasks: laying down the cement bricks to construct the seawall and excavating the beachfront area.
These massive 1 & 1/2 ton bricks are key for establishing a solid foundation, ensuring the stability of our beach oasis.
We ended our construction day early to have time to remove a huge tree that had fallen during Hurricane Idalia, the tree barely missed Charlotte's Ice Cream Truck, landing instead across her entire yard. This tree was SO massive it required heavy machinery to safely remove it from Charlotte's area.
Each day brings us closer to our new home, and we're excited you're here with us to witness the transformation unfold.
Stay tuned for more updates on our DIY Home Renovation adventure! 🏖️
Building Our Own Private Beach/Seawall! (Day One)
Building our own private beach will not only bring a touch of our Hometown, Naples Florida, to us but it also offers a number of benefits.
One of the main advantages is the significant cost savings compared to the quotes we received for alternative options like a polyurethane seawall.
Instead of breaking the bank, we opted for the more affordable option of doing the labor ourselves, and getting creative with it!
Setting the thick concrete blocks in the location they are in not only stabilizes the bank but will also stabilize the foundation of the house and pool!
The extra layer of safety provided by setting the concrete blocks further back off the edge along with the natural buffer of the beach gives us peace of mind, knowing that our home will be safeguarded against future storms.
Bonus points that it’s also really aesthetically pleasing and will be a nice place to relax stick our toes in the sand and imagine ourselves on a beach somewhere on vacation…you know, since we are never able take a vacation because we can't leave all the animals🤷♂️so we’re bringing the relaxing vacation vibes to us!
