Folks asked me to make a fundraiser so they could support. Doing stuff like this is incredibly hard for me, and still I decided to give it a try. If you feel it and want to please give. A little will go a long in helping me stay a float in this transition.
I am closing the physical location of The SHäP. I ran into zoning issues with the city of Vallejo that could not be resolved. Along with dealing with painful personal issues. The SHäP as a whole is not going away. I will still keep and work with reptiles, provide educational content, and vend shows. I am so grateful to everyone that has supported the dream of a silly black/filipinx human. Maybe down the line I will try this again, but as of right now I’m feeling defeated and tired.
The timeline to close is September 20th. I will be selling the enclosures and everything in the store. There will be opportunities to get critters with their enclosures. The store hours are changing as well. I am still figuring out what that will look like. I’ll post more information over the next few days.
I am utterly devasted for multiple reason right now, but I can say with my whole heart that the love y’all have shown me and my store is a beauty that will stick with me.

This is where I woke up this morning!
Also, we aren’t opening today or tomorrow. I will be back Tuesday, normal hours. As some of you may know I’ve been dealing with zoning issues with the city of Vallejo. The future of the store is in flux. I haven’t taken anytime to fully process this, to make a clear plan, or to understand what my needs are. I will prove more information with time. But for now I need to take a moment and process. See y’all next week.

Open today 11-7pm come say hi!
We didn’t successfully grab her but man oh man did it make us happy. PLUS we were able to calm the in-laws’/parents’ minds with information. We let them know what kind of snake it is and that is harmless. She is chilling in the safety of the bush 🥰🥰🥰

Selling my dragons is such a painful decision but it feels like the right thing to do. With the store, and a full time job, starting therapy, and wanting to focus more on giving my pets a better quality of life (a level of care I can be proud of) it’s the right thing to do. The adult dragons I’m selling, I raised them from babies. They mean a lot to me and I love them. I’m not rehoming everyone, there are some dragons I cannot take parting with, it’s too painful. My hope is for the guys that go to new homes that they are given a higher quality of care and attention than I have the bandwidth for and that I can focus on upgrading my Uromastyxs, snakes, Lacertas and other critters.
Like most folks that get into reptiles (and are neurodivergent 😅) I got too many animals too fast. This is a part of what the other side of that looks like. My advice if you are new to reptiles, take your time when figuring out what reptile species is best for you. For example if you are getting a dog but hate physical activity then a Labrador or a Husky or any other high energy species is not going to be a good fit for you. It’s not that different with reptiles. I’ve learned while I like Chameleons I don’t LOVE chameleons and other tropical species the way I love desert critters. I like diurnal, reptiles versus nocturnal or capsular. I hate keeping reptiles in the “minimum recommended” enclosure size. I don’t mind bug eaters but they care is more expensive than salad eaters and cost of care should absolutely be considered. Also, how much time do you have. Reptiles aren’t time consuming like mammals but this also depends on the species and the more you add to your life the more that time commitment adds up.

Silkworms in stock! Get em while you can.
Every reptile keeper’s waking nightmare 😮💨
Gaining the trust of these guys and giving them trust has been a journey. They will definitely try to “eat me” if I’m not paying attention tho 😂.
My fingers are crossed they lay in the lay bin and not under fixed decor at some point 😅
