Your tax-deductible donations go to support these very deserving animals. Coastal is dedicated to providing new beginnings for homeless German Shepherds who have been abandoned, neglected, abused, relinquished

by their owners or just left at local shelters to await an uncertain future. We are committed to finding loving permanent homes for the Orphaned dogs in our care. Coastal is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization. Our mission is to educate the public about German Shepherds, their lifespan, personality, and activity level, along with overall responsible dog ownership. We also raise awareness of the overpopulation of animals through education, training, spaying, and neutering. We work very hard to match each dog with the adoptive families. All prospective adoptive families must complete an online application followed by a telephone interview and then receive a home visit before a German Shepherd is placed in their forever home.

🐾 Sammy – Still Waiting for His Forever Home 💛

Some dogs just have a way of stealing your heart, and Sammy is one of them.

Sammy has been with us for over a year now, patiently waiting for his forever family. Recently, he spent some time with a wonderful foster family who shared what life with Sammy is really like, and it’s no surprise, they fell in love.

💬 “Sammy is a sweetheart who just wants your love and attention! He’s smart, eager to please, and thrives on structure. He loves his walks, cuddles on the sofa, and has perfect manners at mealtime. He even sleeps quietly through the night in his crate.”

At around 5–6 years old, Sammy still has that playful spark of a younger dog — loyal, goofy, and full of love to give. He’s gentle, learns quickly, and just needs someone who will guide him with patience and kindness.

Some dogs have a way of stealing your heart, and Sammy is one of them. Someone who will see beyond the wait and give him the happy ending he’s been dreaming of. 🏡❤️

🐾 Adoption News: Double the Joy — Toffee & Oscar Have Found Their Forever Home! 🏡❤️

We’re over the moon to share the story of two of our most special Coastal K9 residents, Toffee and Oscar!

These two were inseparable at the Ranch, the kind of best friends who did everything together. From morning play sessions in the yard to walks with our volunteers, Toffee and Oscar were always side by side. Their bond was undeniable, and deep down, we dreamed of finding a family who could open their hearts to both.

That wish came true. 💫

Recently, a kind and patient couple came to meet them, and it was an instant connection. Toffee, who tends to be cautious and shy at first, warmed up quickly. And Oscar? Well, he was ready to go home the moment he met them!

Now, Toffee and Oscar are starting their new life together, surrounded by love, comfort, and the safety they’ve always deserved.

Congratulations to their new family, and happiest tails to our beautiful pair! 🐕🐕💞

We had a fantastic time at the Barktoberfest event at the Arrowood Golf Course in Oceanside. So many cute dogs!! set the tone with awesome music for a great event. We made new friends, saw old friends, and had a great time sharing about Coastal and enjoying all the vendors and guests. We can't wait for next year!

From heartbreak to happiness — Fallon’s story is one we’ll never forget.

Once abandoned at one of California’s highest-kill shelters, Fallon faced the unthinkable. But when she walked out those shelter doors, everything changed. She found safety, love, and a chance to shine here at Coastal K9.

And now… she’s found her forever. 💖

This incredible girl has been adopted by a loving family who adores her strength, intelligence, and those trademark “sable shepherd” antics we all fell in love with. Fallon will never wonder what it feels like to be left behind again, only what time dinner is and where her favorite ball went. 😉

When OGZ came to us, he was one of the lucky few saved just in time from the shelter system. His bright eyes and gentle heart quickly showed us what a special boy he is.

Today, we’re thrilled to share that OGZ has found his forever home! 🏡💫 He now has a loving new dog dad and a furry housemate to play, nap, and share all of life’s adventures with.

🐶 Meet Bailey – The Sweetest Little Shadow ☀️

Bailey is a 6-month-old bi-color German Shepherd with the gentlest heart and an eager-to-please nature. 💕 When he first came to us, this shy boy was timid and unsure of the world. But once he settled into his foster home, his true personality began to shine — playful, affectionate, and full of love.

This smart pup is incredibly trainable and food-motivated. He’s already learned to trust his humans and loves to follow them everywhere, tail wagging, ready for affection and endless kisses. 🐾

Bailey has become best buddies with the resident German Shepherd in his foster home. Together, they wrestle, chase, tug, and patrol the yard like a true dynamic duo. 💪 He’s respectful, gentle, and submissive — the perfect gentleman who gets along beautifully with other dogs.

Bailey is now ready for the next chapter in his story: finding a forever family who will give him the love and guidance he deserves. Could that be you? ❤️

Bailey is already mastering his puppy basics:

✅ Crate trained and sleeps through the night (10 PM–7 AM)
✅ Walks great on a leash
✅ House trained — no accidents or marking
✅ Knows “sit” (waits before meals or going out doors)
✅ Learning “down” and respectful of boundaries (with gentle reminders)

He has a typical puppy schedule: play hard, nap hard, repeat! While he occasionally tests limits, such as hopping on furniture or reaching a counter, he’s easily corrected and eager to learn. Bailey is ready to leave his shy beginnings behind and start his next chapter with a forever family. Could that be you?

Meet Alfie – Cute, Confident, and Ready to Learn! 🐾

At just 18 weeks old, Alfie is already making a big impression! Like any puppy, he's bursting with energy and curiosity, but what really stands out is his natural confidence and eagerness to engage with the world around him.

Alfie recently joined our rescue and has settled in very well at the Ranch. We have introduced him to our other puppies and to Asha, a fantastic mentor dog. She’s been showing him the ropes on how to play respectfully, interact with other dogs, and develop proper social skills. Alfie is respectful and well-mannered with Asha and plays beautifully with her puppies, Honor and Dreamer.

This adorable little guy would do best in a home that offers:

🏠 Structure and leadership to guide him through his puppy stages
🐶 A well-balanced adult dog to help mentor and model good behavior
💛 A family committed to helping him grow into a well-rounded adult dog

Adoption News: Destiny’s New Beginning! 💫

When we first rescued Destiny, she was skin and bones, but somehow, she still wore a smile that stretched from ear to ear. ❤️

She didn’t know it at the time, but she was only hours away from losing her life due to the overcrowded shelters. That day, fate stepped in, and her name truly became her story.

Once at the Ranch, Destiny’s spirit began to shine. Her resilience and intelligence amazed us all, and it wasn’t long before she caught the eye (and heart) of one of our amazing volunteers. He began spending extra time with her, forming a special bond that grew stronger every day.

The final test? Meeting his current adopted Coastal K9 dog. Their meet-and-greet went perfectly, tails wagged, hearts melted, and it was clear this was meant to be.

Now, Destiny is living her best life, safe, loved, and surrounded by the family she was always destined to find. 🏡💖
