Coastal is dedicated to providing new beginnings for homeless German Shepherds who have been abandoned, neglected, abused, relinquished

by their owners or just left at local shelters to await an uncertain future. We are committed to finding loving permanent homes for the Orphaned dogs in our care. Coastal is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization. Our mission is to educate the public about German Shepherds, their lifespan, personality, and activity level, along with overall responsible dog ownership. We also raise awareness of the overpopulation of animals through education, training, spaying, and neutering. We work very hard to match each dog with the adoptive families. All prospective adoptive families must complete an online application followed by a telephone interview and then receive a home visit before a German Shepherd is placed in their forever home.

✨🐾 Meet OGZ (“oggz”) 🐾✨

Just days ago, OGZ’s story could have ended inside the shelter system. Instead, this sweet 2–3 year old German Shepherd got the second chance he deserves.

Despite everything, OGZ greets the world with kindness. He passed his dog-to-dog test at the shelter, and since joining us at Coastal K9, he’s already showing us his happy heart and gentle nature. For now, he’s taking time to decompress and adjust, but even in these early days, his gratitude shines through in every tail wag.

🐾 Meet Asher 🐾

When we rescued Asher off the euthanasia list this past week, our hearts sank 💔. He was so thin and malnourished that his ribs showed from a distance, and you could easily wrap your hand around his waist. Seeing such a special dog in that condition was truly heartbreaking.

But Asher’s story doesn’t end there. From the moment he arrived, this amazing boy has shown us nothing but gratitude for his second chance. We’ve promised him that he’ll never be abandoned again, and that somewhere out there, his forever family is waiting.

✨ Now safe at the Ranch, Asher is receiving the nutrition his body needs and the love his soul deserves. With each day, he’s growing stronger and already showing his goofy, playful side. He even passed his dog-to-dog test at the shelter and will soon be joining the rest of our Coastal K9 pack.

Asher’s resilience and gentle spirit remind us why we do what we do. He’s on his way to becoming the healthy, happy dog he was meant to be.

Meet Waverly 💜 The Hidden Treasure Finally Seen

For months, Waverly sat quietly at the back of the shelter… unseen, overlooked, and waiting. 💔

But her story didn’t end there. When we met her, we knew this 5-year-old beauty deserved her chance to shine. ✨

Since arriving at the Ranch, Waverly has blossomed to playful zoomies in the yard, chasing her dog friends, and soaking up every bit of love from our Kennel Team and amazing Volunteers. 🐾💜

Now, it’s time for Waverly’s next chapter: finding the family who will finally see her for who she is, affectionate, joyful, and ready to love unconditionally. 🏡🐶

🎉🐾 Volunteer Day – Officially Declared 🐾🎉

So yes, they deserve a day. Actually, they deserve it every day. But don’t tell them that, we don’t want it going to their heads. 😉assemble the absolute best group of humans on the planet.

They walk dogs that pull like sled teams. They cuddle pups that think they’re lap-sized… even when they weigh 80 pounds. They scoop the… “presents” without complaint (okay, maybe with a little side-eye). And somehow, they keep coming back for more.

✨ Happy Ending: Chester ✨

At just 2 weeks old, Chester and his siblings faced an uncertain future after landing in a Riverside shelter. That’s when a compassionate soul stepped in, rescuing all six puppies. After a few weeks of care, she reached out to Coastal K9 for help and we answered the call.

Over the next several weeks, Chester and his siblings grew strong, learned how to walk on leash, and discovered the joy of meeting other dogs beyond their sibling pack. One by one, they began to find loving homes.

Today we’re thrilled to share that Chester hit the jackpot! Not only did he find a forever home, but it’s one filled with new canine brothers and sisters who will guide him, play with him, and keep him company.

Even more special, Chester’s new family is no stranger to Coastal K9. They’ve adopted six of our German Shepherds over the years! They bring a wealth of experience to help Chester blossom into a confident, well-rounded adult.

The first reports post-adoption are in: Chester is settling beautifully and is already showered with love. His tail wags say it all — he’s home. 💛🐾

✨ Meet Birdie again – Perfectly Imperfect & Perfectly Herself ✨

Birdie was just 9 weeks old when she came to Coastal with her littermates earlier this year. Now at 4.5 months, she’s grown into a stunning, playful girl with a personality all her own.

🐾 With other puppies and dogs, Birdie is outgoing and full of energy, always ready for play. With people, though, she’s cautious. Not broken, not flawed, just herself. Like many White German Shepherds, she takes her time to study new faces before deciding it’s safe to say hello. But once she knows you, watch out! Her greetings are torpedo-style zoomies straight into your arms with a giant kiss attached.

Birdie will thrive in a home with another confident dog, one who can keep up with her play and be a steady role model. Because of her cautious nature, we’re seeking an adult-only home where she can feel safe, grow her confidence, and blossom.

She’s not the dog who will run up to strangers, but she is the dog who will give you her whole heart once you earn her trust. That makes her love all the more special. ❤️
