Your tax-deductible donations go to support these very deserving animals. Coastal is dedicated to providing new beginnings for homeless German Shepherds who have been abandoned, neglected, abused, relinquished

by their owners or just left at local shelters to await an uncertain future. We are committed to finding loving permanent homes for the Orphaned dogs in our care. Coastal is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization. Our mission is to educate the public about German Shepherds, their lifespan, personality, and activity level, along with overall responsible dog ownership. We also raise awareness of the overpopulation of animals through education, training, spaying, and neutering. We work very hard to match each dog with the adoptive families. All prospective adoptive families must complete an online application followed by a telephone interview and then receive a home visit before a German Shepherd is placed in their forever home.

Foxxy recently rejoined our Coastal K9 Pack at the Ranch after spending time with a wonderful foster family. She’s a sweet, affectionate girl who thrives on companionship. The kind of dog who wants to be right by your side. ❤️

When we first rescued Foxxy, we discovered she was hard of hearing. Luckily, her foster mom had experience with deaf dogs and helped Foxxy blossom! Using hand and arm signals, Foxxy learned to come when waved to, wait politely for meals, and even “brush her teeth” for a treat (yes, really 🪥🐶).

Foxxy is a wonderful playmate and has several dog friends at the Ranch. She loves other dogs she knows and, with a calm introduction, quickly becomes everyone’s best buddy.

Foxxy’s ideal home would be with adults who appreciate her intelligence, gentle spirit, and big heart. A canine companion would be the cherry on top. With love and understanding, she’ll give back more than you can imagine. 💕

Adoption News! From Running Scared to Surrounded by Love 🐾

We’re thrilled to share that Bailey is now happily settling into his forever home!

When we first rescued Bailey, he was a young boy running scared on the streets. Thankfully, we found the perfect foster home for him, a kind family with an older German Shepherd who took Bailey under his paw. With his foster brother as a mentor and his foster parents providing love, structure, and basic training, Bailey began to blossom and learn what it means to be part of a family.

When it came time for Bailey to meet potential adopters, fate stepped in once again. The family who came to meet him had a German Shepherd who reminded us so much of Bailey’s foster brother and just like before, it was an instant bond. The two dogs hit it off right away, and Bailey’s new parents fell in love with him on the spot. ❤️

It warms our hearts to know this once-frightened boy is now surrounded by love and companionship. Congratulations, Bailey! You’re home! 🏡🐶

🐾 Meet Zack — The Sweet, Steady Gentleman 💛

We rescued Zack this summer along with his brother Cody, and recently Zack’s been enjoying life with a loving foster family. His foster mom says he’s been a very good boy. Easygoing, polite, and full of heart. 💫

Zack walks beautifully on leash and loves his daily outings. He’s calm and curious when passing other dogs, and even watched horses stroll by without a bark! 🐕‍🦺🐴 Cats and chickens? That’s another story. He’s friendly with everyone he meets and greets new people with a wagging tail and gentle kisses.

He’s a great passenger in the car, well-mannered at mealtimes, and happy to just hang out indoors or outside. His “mischief” is mild and endearing… occasionally sneaking a shoe to bed or swiping a tissue for fun. 😄

Zack enjoys emptying his toy basket one toy at a time, loves hard chews like antlers or Nylabones, and has shown no destructive behavior. He knows commands like sit, wait, off, and place, and is working on down and recall. Zack is mouthy… gentle and soft, but still overly mouthy.

He’s gentle, alert, and affectionate and a loyal companion who’s ready to bring love to his forever family. ❤️

🐾 Sammy – Still Waiting for His Forever Home 💛

Some dogs just have a way of stealing your heart, and Sammy is one of them.

Sammy has been with us for over a year now, patiently waiting for his forever family. Recently, he spent some time with a wonderful foster family who shared what life with Sammy is really like, and it’s no surprise, they fell in love.

💬 “Sammy is a sweetheart who just wants your love and attention! He’s smart, eager to please, and thrives on structure. He loves his walks, cuddles on the sofa, and has perfect manners at mealtime. He even sleeps quietly through the night in his crate.”

At around 5–6 years old, Sammy still has that playful spark of a younger dog — loyal, goofy, and full of love to give. He’s gentle, learns quickly, and just needs someone who will guide him with patience and kindness.

Some dogs have a way of stealing your heart, and Sammy is one of them. Someone who will see beyond the wait and give him the happy ending he’s been dreaming of. 🏡❤️

🐾 Adoption News: Double the Joy — Toffee & Oscar Have Found Their Forever Home! 🏡❤️

We’re over the moon to share the story of two of our most special Coastal K9 residents, Toffee and Oscar!

These two were inseparable at the Ranch, the kind of best friends who did everything together. From morning play sessions in the yard to walks with our volunteers, Toffee and Oscar were always side by side. Their bond was undeniable, and deep down, we dreamed of finding a family who could open their hearts to both.

That wish came true. 💫

Recently, a kind and patient couple came to meet them, and it was an instant connection. Toffee, who tends to be cautious and shy at first, warmed up quickly. And Oscar? Well, he was ready to go home the moment he met them!

Now, Toffee and Oscar are starting their new life together, surrounded by love, comfort, and the safety they’ve always deserved.

Congratulations to their new family, and happiest tails to our beautiful pair! 🐕🐕💞

We had a fantastic time at the Barktoberfest event at the Arrowood Golf Course in Oceanside. So many cute dogs!! set the tone with awesome music for a great event. We made new friends, saw old friends, and had a great time sharing about Coastal and enjoying all the vendors and guests. We can't wait for next year!

From heartbreak to happiness — Fallon’s story is one we’ll never forget.

Once abandoned at one of California’s highest-kill shelters, Fallon faced the unthinkable. But when she walked out those shelter doors, everything changed. She found safety, love, and a chance to shine here at Coastal K9.

And now… she’s found her forever. 💖

This incredible girl has been adopted by a loving family who adores her strength, intelligence, and those trademark “sable shepherd” antics we all fell in love with. Fallon will never wonder what it feels like to be left behind again, only what time dinner is and where her favorite ball went. 😉

Congratulations, Fallon! You’ve earned every ounce of joy coming your way. ❤️
