Kota and Shelby certainly enjoyed their special treats last night! Kota loved her Tasty Treat Mat and Shelby licked every bit of peanut butter out of her Frozen Favorite! It’s bright and early on the first day of Christmas break for most and the first of our visitors have arrived! Havana and Woodford are here for the holidays! Over the next few days, they will be joined by many more of our regulars…. All of which are seasoned veterans at spending their holidays here at Grateful Dog Kennels! ❤️💚🐾

Sophie and Waffles’ family brought two nice beds for them to lounge on during their stay here at Grateful Dog Kennels. It would appear though that the dogs are confused on whose bed belongs to whom. 😂

Bo and Killian (our first two Thanksgiving drop offs) just came in from outside and are watching me furiously clean and prep for all of our Thanksgiving visitors! We will have a very full house of regulars by tomorrow night… several of whom have now spent Thanksgiving with me for years! ❤️🐾🙏

Important info for folks coming and going from Grateful Dog Kennels. The deer around here are everywhere and it is VERY DARK on Station Rd. Please be careful! ❤️🦌

Fall is their most active time of the year.
Some things to keep in mind when driving -
**Deer are most active from sunset to midnight and shortly before and after sunrise - drive with extra caution at these hours.
**If you see one deer, there are likely more.
**Brake firmly when you see a deer in your path, but stay in your lane. Don't veer.

Happy November! Grateful Dog Kennels is SLAMMED from now until after the first of the year, so allow me to take this time to review a very important policy! Dogs being boarded MUST REFRAIN from being at other boarding kennels, doggy daycares, groomers, dog parks and any other such locations where communicable diseases are easily spread for at least two weeks prior to their reservation here at Grateful Dog Kennels! THANK YOU for following this important rule as we all work together to keep your dogs safe and healthy! ❤️ 🐾

It’s always a good day when a former foster comes for boarding…. even better when there’s more than one! Hershey (Chocolate Lab adopted in 2015) and Gia (petite little mutt) adopted in 2023 are back with their foster mama for the weekend!

Hello everyone! It has come to my attention a few times in just the last few days that I need to review the pick up/drop off appointment time policy here at Grateful Dog Kennels as some folks may not be aware of the importance of it!

At least a day or two before your pick up or drop off, I will reach out to you to set up your appointment time to do so. This is for a number of reasons:

1. When your dog gets dropped off, you will be meeting individually with either myself or one of my employees. We do not leave dogs unsupervised in the yard, so this means we are stopping playtime to give you our undivided attention while the other dogs are safely contained. These individual meetings are very important for the health and well-being of your dog so that we can review any food, medication, or special concerns you may have while your dog is here. Not showing up on time for your appointment means you may be showing up during someone else’s appointment time, or you may be bringing the whole day’s operation to a hault while we wait for you.

2. Part of the reason we also set up these individual, staggered meeting times is so that we can immediately take your dog, and just your dog, into the yard by itself, before it is mixed in with a group. Many dogs IMMEDIATELY need to go potty when they arrive due to their excitement, plus each new dog that arrives deserves some one on one time with us to help it decompress.

3. There is a good reason that in over seven years of running this business, I have never had a single dogfight. That is because dog to dog meetings are very carefully planned and supervised by me. Not showing up on time for your appointment to pick up or drop off may mean that you are showing up at someone else’s appointment time, creating an unplanned dog to dog meeting in the doorway or parking area.

4. I know this part is hard to believe, but we are not open to the public 24 hours a day! On any given day, I can offer between 12-14 hours worth of pick up and drop off time options. That being said, I do occasionally need to leave for appointments, errands, family obligations, and even to go to sleep eventually! I am so very grateful to the 90% of clients that are so unbelievably respectful of my time. You are a joy to work with and you are why I stay in this business! Over the past few years I have already had to eliminate some clients though from my roster for being disrespectful of my time and policies and have no hesitation to do that whenever necessary. 

Thank you, again, to the majority who are so kind and respectful of this important appointment policy. If you were unaware of the importance, hopefully this helped!
