*Update, surgery went well but he will be in the hospital another day or two to monitor his healing.

We need your help to pay for the care this little guy is receiving at Stonehouse animal hospital. We named him Terry. He is about three months old. A kind lady in Meridian found him and brought him to the shelter. The vet said the wounds are about a week old. He will need surgery to try to repair the damage to his head. Casey Boyce /Cassie Boyce and her family have recently lost two of their loving Beagles.

They were last seen in Valley Falls Kansas and have been missing for over 5 days now. If you or you know someone that may have these dogs, please contact Casey Boyle at 785-817-4664.

The female beagle is named Lulu and the male beagle is named Harvey.

Or if you have picked these dogs up off the road, please bring them into Jefferson County Humane Society during our open hours and we will get in touch with their owners.

If you or someone you know are looking for a very loving and affectionate dark orange cat you'll want to come visit Tony the Tiger.

He came into the shelter as a super friendly stray and is hoping to find a loving forever family to take him home for the holidays.

He loves people, kids, other cats, and as friendly as Tony is he should do fine with cat friendly dogs.

Post Update:
As some know Rosemary welcomed 6 adorable and healthy puppies on November 5th, 2023. Now that they have grown a bit, we can finally determine their genders.

We couldn't wait to share this exciting news with everyone as we work towards finding these charming pups their forever homes.

The accompanying pictures will help you identify each puppy, but please remember that they are not yet ready for adoption, so we kindly ask you to refrain from submitting adoption applications for now.

We are excited to introduce you to Samson!

This beautiful chocolate point Siamese arrived at the Jefferson County Humane Society as a stray from the Perry area, facing some tough challenges when he first came in.

Thankfully, our dedicated veterinarian and staff worked wonders to restore his health, preparing him for a loving forever home.

Fortunately for Samson, it didn't take long for him to capture the heart of a wonderful lady who adores him beyond words.

Today, we are thrilled to share some heartwarming photos of him, graciously provided by his caring forever mom.

Stories like Samson's are what inspire everyone at the Jefferson County Humane Society, and we hope they resonate with all animal lovers out there.

Meet Geo! He is a 3yo Australian Cattle dog mix, he has also been vaccinated, neutered, and chipped. Geo loves to play outside and hang out with other furry friends. He is seeking a home with lots of space to play and people to be around. Geo has a gorgeous smile and a radiant personality that makes you happy to be near him. He also does well on a leash and is easy to handle. If you are interested please come on in and say hi! We are open:

Meet Draco! This big boy is a 6 yo, 145lb Rottweiler mix. He has been vaccinated, neutered, and chipped. Draco has been here since March and is seeking a home with lots of love and loads of treats. He loves getting belly rubs (as you can see in the photos!) and sniffing the trees outside. He has big, sad puppy eyes and big paws, but his heart is also extremely large as well. He is the sweetest, not so little dog you will meet. Come check him out during our hours!

😃 Adopted

Oh I see my foster brother Biscuit is trying to steal the limelight. Well my name is Bailey and I'm so much cuter than Biscuit. Just because he's warm and fuzzy doesn't mean you should adopt him and not me. Well I guess it would be okay if you adopted him but maybe you could take me too! I'm the best little kitten ever and I promise I will love you forever. Come meet up this week. You won't be sorry 💕

Meow everyone, My name is Biscuit. and I'm so ready to have a family of my own. After my Mama died I stayed with a nice family and they took care of me till I was big enough to take care of myself. I'm 4 months old now and I so love to cuddle. I like dogs and kids and other kitties so please consider coming in to meet me. I'm here at the shelter on Tuesdays from 1:00 to 5:00 Friday and Saturday 1:00 to 6:00.

Meet Geo a playful boy around 3-4 years old who is well-mannered, housebroken, and enjoys being around people.

He is currently at the shelter for about two weeks while his foster family is on vacation. Geo is selective with other dogs, so a meet and greet is necessary.
