Horse that are Misunderstood, the Outlaws, the Misfits(mustangs & ferals). Horses of all ages and all walks of life needing a soft landing. Horses that have suffered abuse, neglect, abandonment or are at risk.

Focused on giving the horse the time it needs. Following Nutrition, long standing vet & farrier resources, Training, mind and body rehab, and creating an environment in which they can thrive.
✨We rehabilitate these horses through our programs with a mission to educate, connect, and humble; Horse & Human.

Today, on National Day Of The Horse, it feels like a great time to help celebrate horses and all they give us!

Horses give us humans a monumental gift- Companionship, Peace, Listening, Physical Exercise, Deep Emotional Connection and Development, Recovery from Trauma or Disability, Therapeutic Healing, Sense of Pride and Responsibility, Life Lessons

Miss Mollys Gut and over all Health/Rehab…

And our Seniors dealing with some Struggles currently…

So Happy with Mollys progress! We are really starting to see her strength and personality grow! We are switching her to some less rich hay and upping her NEW - Stable Mix Max- Senior Lite pellets!

We re-stocked up on Babe & Kobe’s daily Meds
(Equiox & Prescend) and we added Hydroxyzine in for Babes current edema and allergies 🤧 and are checking Kobe’s levels🩸again as his “Cushing Days” have become more frequent.

Caring for Senior Equines, is so special and rewarding, but doesn’t come with out its struggles. It takes a village and we are so blessed to have our Ranch Family at Close Ranch and long standing relationships and resources! Pierce Veterinary Services & Meyers & Son's Farrier Services

Ryder Man! Talkative, sweet, “here I am” center of attention! Forward, Fancy, Firey, Forgiving!

You will forever be the most rewarding and validating Rescue & Rehab & Re-train…that I have ever had the privilege to LOVE 💕

You taught me so much while being amazingly fun, brave, and willing. You went from my skinny naked mole rat… to my gorgeous blind in one eye wonder!

I pray you knew just how much you were loved, BY SO MANY! I’m so sorry our time AND Scarlett’s time, was cut short….

Feel so Blessed to have got to love you and create so many memories in just the 9/10months you were with us here at HHH 🙏🏻❤️🐴

Scarlett is an AMAZING young lady, who has been working around the ranch and putting in time with Ryder, working towards taking him home one day… She deserved something special, in memory of Ryder… and to know; no amount of time is too small, it’s the heart in it… and that her relationship with Ryder was a huge part of giving him the very best Life!

The Best Horses in Heaven, They Have No Tail

The best horses in Heaven
they have no tail.
This is a rule they all know
without fail.
For when a new horse arrives
with a short cut bob,
they all know that this horse
did a very good job.

His owner could not bear
to part with her friend
so she saved his tail,
wrapped in ribbons
and in braids,
to hold with his memory
in a very loving way.

To enter Heaven
without a tail
is an honor,
a message,
that without fail
announces to everyone,
far and wide
that this horse
was more than a wonderful ride.

But
this horse was loved and cherished by one
and when his time serving on this Earth was done
he left behind
a broken heart
and a soul
from which he never will part.

Senior Research Scientist, Alltech
Originally from South Africa, Dr. Mieke Holder is a senior research scientist at Alltech. Her research focuses on equine nutrition and the use of Alltech technologies to improve feed and nutrient utilization, horse health and environmental sustainability. Prior to joining Alltech, Dr. Holder was a faculty member at the University of Kentucky, focusing on the environmental impact of grazing livestock. She earned her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in animal sciences from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, followed by a Ph.D. in equine nutrition from the University of Kentucky.

🌧️🌨️ Winter Rescue 🌨️🌧️

As winter approaches we encourage anyone in need to reach out to us before it’s too late….

The winter months pose all kinds of struggles and challenges to horse owners, as well as horses. Horses will need blanketing, shelter, and extra feed to stay warm. The winter rain, mud, snow, and ice can become a physical challenge for some.

We understand that many owners deeply love their horses but when it comes to a point where you no longer can care for them, the most loving thing you can do is to let go and offer them a better life.

We are here as a resource to the horse community, and wish to help those struggling. We do our best to offer a place where horses of all kinds can be surrendered in a safe and loving environment. Where the owner can be rest assured the horse is well cared for.

All we ask is that you reach out to us before it’s too late. Sometimes we are too full to take a horse in immediately; but, we can network, connect, and facilitate in the meantime. Help us give your horse a last chance before they are suffering. 💕
