An Update Has Been Posted!!

CHS had a power outage yesterday and Alabama Power said our meter couldn't handle the voltage.

We are in need of immediate assistance from an Electrician, as we have a freezer, that CANNOT thaw.

If anyone can help or knows someone, please contact me [email protected]

We will need a generator for our freezer and space heater as we have puppies that NEED the heat.
Or if you are willing to FOSTER any of our smaller pups, please let us know asap.

Big Valley Animal Rescue is one of the main rescues that pulls from CHS. Please consider fostering with them so they can continue to save lives!

We are in DESPERATE need of fosters. Calls are coming in left and right. Shelters are overflowing and having to make extremely hard decisions to make space almost daily. We CANNOT save anymore animals without people willing to foster. We promise that it will be so worth it!

Update: we were able to find his owner.

His back and neck were severely broken, so the decision was made to let him go peacefully and free of pain. His owner is out of town, so one of our board members told him how much his mama loved him and comforted him as he crossed the rainbow bridge.

Thank you to everyone who donated. We will be using that money to cover the cost of his visit as well as his cremation cost so his mom can bring him home.

Born in the shelter😭😭😭

Reasons to adopt one of Sue Ellen's puppies:

1. These puppies were born here. They've been here since April, so they've never known anything but shelter life.

2. They're all getting spayed/neutered on Friday.

3. They're FREE. Their adoption was sponsored, so all you have to do is pick which one you want: Rainy, Shilo, Astro, Pepe la Pue, Chunk or Black Bean, fill out an application and pick them up Friday night.

4. By adopting one or more you'll free up space in our facility possibly saving some of the other dogs lives.

5. Puppies are easy to train and eager to please. You can train them within just a couple weeks.

6. They're up to date on all their shots and have already had parvo, so the likelihood they get it again is very slim.

Rhimes was out going potty in Lanett, AL near the S 5th Ave when he got spooked by the early fireworks! He is very friendly! Please keep eye out for him and reach out with any sightings! We want to get him safe before more fireworks start.

These 2 precious kids have been in amazing foster homes for the past few weeks, but the time has come that they are both heading back to the shelter. Donald has been in the care of Chattahoochee Humane Society for 75 days and Mr. McScruff has been in the care of Chattahoochee Humane Society for 88 days.

Both are neutered, heartworm negative, and dog friendly. Please come save a life today! CHS is dangerously full and dogs could lose their lives.

7:59am this morning I get a phone call from one of my 3 employees and she is in tears.

This job can be really rewarding, but there are also days and weeks that it is draining.

Yesterday while vaccinating some of our animals due to the recent 5 cases of parvo we've had, 3 dogs were brought in by animal control and we had no where to put them.

Overnight, another dog got brought in and it's made this morning hard.

We had to put the dogs back to back in their kennels, which means cleaning and feeding is hard.

We know how our current animals will react to food, but these are new ones that we know nothing about.

Dogs being back to back means we are more than over capacity. We have no space. We've gotten creative with kennels, but at this point we are hard pressed to make decisions we were trying to avoid.

Today, we are PLEADING with Chambers County residents...
Come pick up your animals if they are here.
Get them spayed/neutered.
Stop DUMPING THEM.
Keep them in a safe fenced area.
Get them a microchip.
And if you need help with any of this we are here.

Ways you can help:
Adopt. We have so many GOOD dogs that just want love, attention and a safe place to eat and sleep.

Foster. Even you taking a dog for a week will be like a vacation for them and may help someone you know adopt them.

Work for us. We are still searching for a reliable Kennel Tech for Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues shift.

Volunteering and donations always help too but in order for us to save dogs TODAY,

WE NEED A HAIL MARY.


Our staff is emotionally exhausted for caring for these animals day in and day out only to have more and more be thrown away like garbage.

We're open until 5. Please help us save these dogs.

Parvo. The 5 letter word that no one EVER wants to hear from the mouth of a veterinarian.

This little nugget just tested positive. She urgently needs a rescue commitment and/or foster commitment. She CANNOT go back to the shelter after treatment. Please let us know if you can help, and please keep Thunder in your thoughts and prayers!

We are so excited!!!!

Hello everyone!!!

I hope you are having an awesome weekend.

My name is Amber Mingin and I am the new Director at the Chattahoochee Humane Society.

I'm a mom of 3 boys ages 11, 7 & 5 along with 1 beautiful little girl who is 9months old and mom to a 9month old Pyranese Lab Mix. I live out in West Point and my husband and I own our own travel baseball organization out of Lagrange.

Since starting this week, I have seen a lot of areas that we need to work on and some areas that we are doing really well on.

My main goal and focus is to be a voice for every animal, making sure that they all get the best care while in our facility and to find them all the perfect homes.

Our mission statement has been "No more homeless pets" and I will continue to do my best to hold us to that standard.

Last week we decided to hold a Clear the Kennel event, heavily discounting the cost of adoption for our animals. We had a very successful week with 23 cat/kitten adoptions and 3 dog adoptions.

We will continue the event this week as we hope to see more dogs/puppies leave our facility as we have absolutely 0 kennels left.

PLEASE HELP!

We've gotten an update on Cole and unfortunately it's not what we had hoped to hear.
It's with heavy hearts that we have to report that Cole took a turn for the worse today. He started having sezuires and despite trying everything they could to get them to stop, he just wouldn't stop seizing. They recommended to end his suffering and he has now crossed the rainbow bridge. 🌈 💔
We want to thank everyone who donated towards this sweet boy's care, we know he was in the best hands until his final breath.

Cole was left in our front lobby before we opened today, he has now been hospitalized with parvo virus. We're asking for donations to go towards his veterinary care.
Parvo virus is highly contagious and can put the other 30+ dogs and puppies here at risk. Because of this, Cole will need to go into a foster home after his treatment as he could still be shedding the virus for weeks after treatment.

Leo is one of Chattahoochee Humane Society’s longest residents and in danger of losing his life.

ADOPTED!!! 🥰🥰🥰

Don’t let her frumpy eye brows fool you- Twizzler is the sweet girl around!

This aussie mix came into CHS with some pretty rough skin, missing a bunch of her hair. As it heals and grows back in, she continues to become even more beautiful than we thought imaginable for already such a beautiful dog.

Twizzler has tested well with other dogs, though she seems to prefer more laidback dogs like her self. She is super sweet to all humans and would probably be a great movie-watching snuggle buddy! You can come by Chattahoochee Humane Society during any of the hours below to meet Twizzler or any of the other adoptable dogs.

Her adoption fee of $50 will cover her rabies vaccines, DAPP vaccine, and spay!
