Today I ran Banyan on track #50. The shot sounded good. 308 at 60 yards quartering away, bullet entered right side and exited left. A 2 inch piece of bone was found by the hunter and there were several pools of blood which fizzled out. The track was clean as the hunter had backed out and gave us a call. Yall when I say Banyan amazed the absolute crap out of me today; that is a mild understatement. She worked this line like a champ, never wavering. She reacquired the line several times herself working through tough terrain, scent pools, various types of debris and foliage, distractions, and other deer scent; even finding an empty wound bed. I belive the deer heard us coming and jumped from his bed and ran because once she got past that bed, she kicked it into high gear and I knew we was on a live one. When she digs in it takes every ounce of muscle I have to hold her back. She like a small version of a water buffalo😂. As the track went on, it got to pin drops of blood and sometimes no blood for a 100 plus yards, then boom more blood. I had to come to the realization that this was probably a low shot, leg hit deer that was making it just fine on 3 wheels. I eventually called the track at almost the mile mark. I hated to because she was a tracking machine. Even though this is a nonrecovery it was the best track she has ever done and I wanted to give her props! She crushed this line like a seasoned dog. I am super proud of her work. I always heard that sometimes the best tracks dont end in tailgating the animal. Its watching the dog do its thing to perfection!! Atta girl Banyan! Im so proud of you!!
