Reminder: Dog coats and sweaters are a great for keeping short-haired dogs (especially seniors) warm and comfortable on chilly walks.

When shopping for your dog's winter wear, keep their mobility in mind. Try to avoid coats that are too snug around their chests and legs. High-visibility colors are great for evening walks.

Cats are often thought of as solitary animals, but we find most prefer company, especially when their owners are away.

As we head into the holiday season, don't forget to book your cat a Rover's Recess buddy for visits while you're out of town.

Here's a Tongue-Out-Tuesday Tip: If your dog is a picky eater, consider checking their teeth. Sore gums and painful teeth can make a dog more resistant to digging into their dinner. If their dental health isn't the issue, you can encourage them to lick their plate clean by adding no-sodium chicken broth to their food. For example choosey dogs, you can consider cycling chicken broth and bone broth to increase variety!

Walking your dog regularly helps them maintain a strong foundation of health, even as temperatures drop. In fact, winter walks help ensure your dog is physically ready when spring comes around.

Without winter walks, your dog may:
- lost muscle mass
- suffer from boredom
- lost joint flexibility

If you can't squeeze in your dog's walks this winter, give us a call.

Reminder: Prepare your pet for houseguest success. If your cat is shy of strangers, designate one room as a "Do not enter zone." Prep the room with their food, water, litter box, and a comfy bed. Dimming the lights and playing relaxing music creates the ambiance for a peaceful respite from all the noise that comes along with the festivities.

Handouts on Thanksgiving can upset your pet's tummy (and even be dangerous). Encourage health handouts by baking homemade training treats for guests to give your dog instead of table scraps.

Mix together oats, peanut butter, applesauce, and 1 egg. Then roll out your dough, cut into 1/2-inch squares, and then bake until solid.

Spoiler: The peace of mind that comes along with knowing exactly what your dog is eating makes preparing and hosting Thanksgiving less stressful
