Pet Tip Friday!
A cat’s litter box is an important part of their life. Here are some litter box tips from the ASPCA:
1. Find the Right Spot: Place the litter box in a quiet, easy-to-access location. For multi-level homes, have one on each floor.
2. Keep It Clean: Scoop daily and refresh weekly—clean cats are happy cats!
3. Avoid Strong Scents: Use mild cleaners, and avoid ammonia or scented detergents.
4. Keep It in Place: Try not to move the box, but if needed, shift it just a few inches per day.
If your cat is having litter box concerns, head to UrgentVet—it could be a sign of a medical problem!

• Cherry eye (but no cherries involved)
• Hives (not the honey kind)
• Chocolate (and wrapper) cravings
• Diarrhea (we won’t say more)
• A toothache (even the Tooth Fairy couldn’t fix)
• Itchy skin and ears (scratch-a-palooza)
• Chasing a garbage truck (and a hurt foot to show for it)
• A mysterious laceration (the plot thickens)
• An upset tummy (who doesn’t love corn on the cob...except when it’s the whole cob)
We're here when your furry friend needs a little TLC. Save your spot online or just walk right in!

Accidents don’t take a holiday, and neither do we! 🐾 Our team is here for all your urgent care needs this Labor Day weekend. Whether it’s a playful mishap or a sudden illness, we’ve got you covered. Wishing you and your pets a safe and happy Labor Day from all of us at UrgentVet!
Holiday Hours:

The ASPCA tell us that these are the reasons dogs bark.
• Territorial Barking: A response to intruders, be it people or animals.
• Alarm Barking: A response to specific sounds or sights.
• Attention-Seeking: To gain a reward or attention.
• Greeting: Much like a person’s “Hi,” a dog will bark when encountering a person, and it’s usually a relaxed, non-confrontational bark.
• Compulsive Barking: This may be for no apparent reason, but the dog gets agitated and may pace.
• Socially Facilitated: A response to another dog barking.
• Frustration-Induced: A response to confinement or separation.
You can calm a barking dog using strategies such as desensitization, use of trained commands, removal of the offending object, anti-stress devices, or boredom alleviation. It’s never a good idea to use harsh or intimidating tactics. Instead, it’s best to understand why your dog is barking and deploy a tactic to refocus their attention. If needed, hire a professional to lend a hand.

Pet Tip Friday!
Is it okay to let my cat out for the evening? At UrgentVet, we say no, and here’s why:
• Disappearance – Cats can go missing.
• Hit by a car – Night driving makes it harder to see cats.
• Predators – Many animals come out at night, and your cat could become prey.
• Illness & disease – Cats can come into contact with sick animals.
• Toxic ingestion – Outdoor cats may encounter poison or other animals that have ingested poison.
• Animal cruelty – Roaming cats may fall victim to abuse.
If you suspect your cat has encountered any of these dangers while outdoors, come see us. We have the diagnostic tools to help unravel the mystery of what’s happened, so we can get them on the road to recovery. We’re here weekdays from 3 PM to 11 PM and weekends from 10 AM to 8 PM. We’ll also be here on Labor Day from 12 PM to 8 PM.

What is UrgentVet? Think of us like urgent care for pets. 🐾
In human healthcare, you see your regular doctor for wellness visits and planned procedures, and you go to the ER when it’s life-threatening. For everything in between, you visit urgent care.
The same applies to veterinary care! Pets visit their regular vet for checkups and vaccinations, and the emergency vet for serious, life-threatening issues. We’re here for everything in between—like cuts, bites, itching, diarrhea, vomiting, limping, scooting, and more.
Save your spot online or just walk in. We’re open weekdays 3 PM to 11 PM and weekends 10 AM to 8 PM.
As part of our motto, we make sure to spend quality time with your furry friends and make sure they feel calm, comfortable, and loved when they are with us! 🐱
At UrgentVet, we believe in keeping your pets happy and stress-free. That's why we go the extra mile to ensure your furry friends feel calm, comfortable, and cared for during every visit. 🐱
Luna! 🌕 This sweet angel has what’s called “Atopy”.
This is a genetic tendency to develop allergic disease with a heightened immune response. French Bulldogs & English Bulldogs are very prone to this and often need special diets, shampoos, and oral medications to help manage this condition. It can be very uncomfortable and sometimes can lead to self-mutilation in the form of chewing and scratching.
Our species-specific exam rooms are just one of the many Fear Free features in our clinics. We also offer non-slip flooring, dimmable lighting, calming scents, distraction treats, low-noise scales, and glass enclosures. We believe your pet’s emotional well-being is crucial to their recovery, so we go the extra mile to ensure comfort and support during their visit.
Sweet baby Daisy 🌼 came in for limping. She was playing in the yard like a silly 🤪 pup and landed on her leg wrong. After radiographs, we discovered a spiral fracture. She got a pretty splint and some medicine for pain and to keep her calm while she heals.
Pets sometimes munch on things they shouldn’t—like whole rib bones. This sweet dog, Kumo, gulped down what he thought was the ultimate treat before his pet parents could intervene. We quickly took x-rays to find the bone's location, and Kumo was transferred to an ER vet for emergency surgery that night. Quick action and diagnostic testing were crucial in saving Kumo's life. If your pet gets into something they shouldn't, time is critical. We're here for you when you need us.
Did you know certain flowers are toxic to cats? 💐
While they may look beautiful and smell wonderful, some flowers can be dangerous to our feline friends. If you love having flowers at home or your cat explores the garden, be sure to choose “cat-safe” options like Roses, Sunflowers, Zinnias, and Marigolds. 🌸
This handsome fella is Murray. Murray had a dental about 9 days ago and now his face is swollen. 😕 He went home with some antibiotics and lots of compliments 😍
At UrgentVet, we believe your pet’s emotional well-being is a crucial part of their recovery. We go the extra mile to ensure your furry family member feels supported while they’re with us.
With the heat still in full swing, remember that our furry friends feel it too! Walking your dog in hot weather can lead to heatstroke and other injuries. Here's why: Concrete and asphalt retain heat, making it much hotter for your pet, and these surfaces can burn their paw pads. When it’s above 80-85 degrees, it’s best to walk your dog in the early morning or at dusk. If that’s not possible, keep walks short and stay on the grass. Always provide plenty of water and watch for signs of heatstroke, such as excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, and confusion. If you notice any of these, bring your pet to us right away.
