Dental care is a crucial part of your pets over all health. Smelly breath, tooth decay and mouth pain does not have to be a part of your pet's life. Regular dental health care by a Veterinarian will certainly make your pet's breath fresh and teeth white, but most importantly, you will be preventing your fur baby from diseases resulting from poor oral health such as kidney, liver and heart disease. If you feel like your pet is exhibiting any of these symptoms, bad breath, bleeding gums, refusing to eat, drooling excessively, changes in play, whining or growling, and hiding, give us a call and set an appointment for an oral exam.
Note: the best oral exams are done under sedation as your pets do like for us to open their mouths

Meet Bianco, his owners noticed after a walk that Bianco was bleeding from his neck and had a horrible smell so they immediately made an appointment to have him seen. Upon examination, we determined Bianco had a severe hot spot which are a red, inflamed, itchy skin lesion that can ooze and may contain pus, Hot Spots typically develop due to allergies, excessive scratching or from the Florida humidity. Bianco was in a lot of pain so we sedated him so we could properly treat the hot spot, which includes shaving the entire area of the hot spot, then scrubbing the affected area with chlorhexidine scrub followed by saline. We want the hot spot to stay as dry as possible, hot spots thrive in a moist environment. Bianco was put on an antibiotic and Apoquel (an anti-itch medication). 10 days later and look at the difference! He is healing beautifully!
