Update:foster found!
Thank you Amy and Brent! ā¤ļø

We urgently need a foster for this sweet and resilient momma and her two surviving newborn puppies. They were born in a drainage pipe and after weeks of no rain, a storm washed them out into the culvert, drowning one. We found the others separately and momma came with Kristie when she realized her puppies were gone (and that Kristie is magic.) can anyone foster this tiny family???

Almost Home Shelter is known for lending a helping hand when funds and time are available. During our existence, we have shared food with many in the area, to ensure dogs are being fed. Further, we have paid medical bills when families had no other resources to save an animal. We have offered spay/neuter vouchers for dogs with the help from the city of Van Buren in times past when the program becomes available.

Almost Home Shelter has answered many calls for help from people within our community and outside our community. We have been allowed to help save many dogs that have never made it to our shelter due to the regulations we follow set forth by the city of Van Buren and our agreement with the Van Buren City Council. We work closely with Animal Control and Code Enforcement.

As we hope all know, we are here for the dogs brought into the shelter and will always try and assist when we can.

But now, we are asking for help in return! Every shelter within our reach and every rescue in the northern states are overwhelmed with dogs. We are full. While we are so blessed to have the financial support from our followers who believe in our goals and have great thanksgiving for you all, we NEED HELP!!!

What are we needing? We are asking for people to consider coming and just visiting with us to see what we do and consider being a part of us as volunteers. Many have told us that they physically cannot walk dogs. There are several ways you can help. Come sit in the play yard with some of the dogs; come wash some dishes; come take some laundry home. For those who can walk dogs, join us! We will train you how to leash up and walk our furry friends. Our goal is to keep everyone safe (both you and our dogs). We do have age restrictions for the reason of safety. Those restrictions are shared on our website at Almosthomesheltervb.com.

We are here daily from 8 a.m. until we finish every weekday, Monday through Friday, regardless of holidays. We return by 4:30 p.m. each day to repeat the morning duties. Weekends, Saturday and Sunday, we begin at 8 a.m. and end by noon, returning again by 4:30 p.m. Come help for an hour or more.

If you cannot help by visiting with us and giving some time, please consider fostering a dog or two so that they can be acclimated to life outside of the shelter so that we can get them transported.

To be honest, it has become overwhelming, and we need this sort of help NOW! For more information, feel free to call 479-414-3781. Just show up with your cruddiest shoes and clothes and will teach you! Please help us!!! Thank you so much!!!

Our animal control officers just brought in a deceased tan and white medium size dog with an orange collar picked up off of Kibbler Road. We are very sorry to have to make a post informing someone that their pet ļæ¼ was hit by some type of vehicle and did not survive ļæ¼

We want to give a big thank-you to the ArcBest Corporation in Fort Smith for allowing us to again take our dogs to Family Day last Saturday!
Itā€™s wonderful to know our River Valley industries care about the welfare of rescue animals and want to help!
We were able to feature Meatloaf, Autumn, Zuko, and Dimitri and are hoping they all will find their forever homes! It was an amazing opportunity for our shelter!

I'm approximately 18 month old (DOB 2024-3), single, black, female (spayed), American Pit Bull, looking for an athletic, smart, sweet, water-loving, outdoorsy guy or gal like me! :) , who shares my curiosity and need for adventure. I'm a lean machine and would like to learn to dock dive, do agility, go kayaking and camping, or do all of the above. I like kids and play nice with other dogs. I'm house trained but am still learning what I can play with and what I cannot. Everything is just so intriguing, especially the black thing coiled on the wall outside that the sprays water !! That thing is AWESOME! I LOVE THE WATER!!
I had a rough start in life. I spent my first few months of tie up to a tree in the hot sun next to a camper trailer in rural Arkansas. I frequently went without water and food. And it was really, really hot and no one played with me. It was so lonely. Then Suzanne picked me up and my world changed. I have a safe place with plenty of food and water. It took me several months to figure out that I did not have to gulp my food. I've been to doggie cotillion (to a professional dog trainer) and now have much better table
manners. I can do place and wait until she gives me permission to eat, then I eat slowly and lady like.
I've learned all the basic stuff; sit, come, stay, down and am house trained. I'm a wiz at fetching the ball. I'm very good on the leash and have learned to control my impulses when the deer bolt out in
front of us. Even when they stop and turn and just stare at me!! All I can do is stand or sit and quiver!!
It's torture! I'm also good at cleaning the kennel and helping with gardening! I am an excellent car rider. I like to go to the drive thru at the bank. I put on my extra cute face to get an extra treat. I works every time. I had a blast at the tire store last week. We waited in the lobby while the Tacoma was getting new tires. I was so much fun to meet new friends.
The only problem with my life is I don't have my own person. I'm looking for my adventure partner, snuggler and playful soul mate. I'd love to make you laugh because I'm HILARIOUS!! I want to sit on the sofa with you and lick your toes, watch TV and snuggle. I want to help cook and do the laundry. I want to travel and make memories together.
I have transportation and am willing to relocate anywhere in the continental United States. Suzanne needs a vacation and said she wants to be sure I find just the right person. I think she is attached to me like I'm attached to her.
