John Mason is a licensed Bereiter by the German Equestrian Federation(FN). A native of Corpus Christi, TX, John has been riding since the age of four. In 2009 he competed on his 8yr old Dutch Warmblood gelding Gdansk, bred in Austin by Richard and Susan Howard, at the NAJRYC in Lexington, KY. He was a working student of Richard's from 2007-2009, when, with the help of Susan, he found a barn in Germany where to apprentice. He trained under Johann Zagers outside of Düsseldorf from 2009-2013. He completed his Bereiter examinations in the fall of 2012 with high marks in dressage riding, instruction, and jumping instruction. He worked as a principle rider in Zagers' barn until he and his wife Rachael, moved to Conroe, TX in 2013. John is now the head trainer at Tex-Over Farms. Since returning to Region 9 he has won several Regional Championships from Training thru Intermediare I. As well as representing Region 9 in US Dressage finals where he has earned a championship title in 2018, two reserve Championships , and several other top 5 finishes.
John was awarded the 2019 Region 9/The Dressage Foundation Teaching Excellence Award.

John teaches classical german riding with an understanding of the modern show ring. His focus is on the correct foundation of the horse and rider to be able to have fun and confidence in moving up the levels!
