Happy Friday!!
This is Gambit learning to walk on a different surface! We worked on this for about two weeks. Working on things like this builds confidence in your pup. I let him do it at his own pace, and we stopped when he said he was done.
It's important to never force your pup to do something scary, but to help them learn it's not scary.
With time and patience, your pup will grow into a confident dog!
It wouldn't let me post the videos together so the starting video is in comments. 😊

Just a thought. If you need to rehome your pet...

Last night we got a call for help from East Padden Animal Hospital about a pup that had been surrendered to them, asking for help.

The owner of the pup was there threatening to take her and shoot her if they didn’t take her. She wanted the dog euthanized. EPAH vets said no, as they should, to euthanizing a perfectly healthy animal. (THANK YOU EPAH!)

After the person threatened to take and kill the dog, the doctor explained that could be considered cruelty and they would have a duty to report.

It is believed there may have been some human issues going on and the vet thought it best to take the surrender.

Why am I telling you all the grossness? Well, this dog was just rehomed a week ago. A young family used a website they thought was going to help them get it right. Unfortunately, no matter where you post a dog, it is never immune to the awful that humans are capable of. This pup had been with her young family for 8 years and they just had a baby and were going through, a lot. They really thought the best thing for her was to find a good home. In the end, they have decided not to rehome her and were mortified that this could have ended so much worse. No one thinks these things can happen to them, until they do.

If you find yourself in a position to need to rehome your pet, please go the extra mile. Run a background check if you can. Google the persons name and city and see what comes up. Search social media to see if they have acquired other pets or were seeking them. Make an application for them to fill out and sign. Require a home check. Require at least 3 references, and CHECK THEM! Talk to their existing vet. If after all that, you feel like they are a good fit, sign the contract and rehome your pup. If at ANY TIME anything feels off, red flagged or otherwise, be done. No thank you. Trust your gut. You do not have to give anyone a reason to say no. You can just say, no.

This sweet girl’s life could have ended differently, if it was not for the wonderful vets and techs at East Padden who trusted their gut and did the right thing.

Sweet Delilah is back home where she will stay.
