Tomorrow is the beginning of National Animal Poison Prevention Week, March 16-22! With Spring around the corner, now is a good time to remind pet owners of the common, yet toxic plants and household goods your pet may possibly be exposed to in and around your home. Please take the time to educate yourself on what can poison your pet, how to prevent poisoning, and how to identify signs of poisoning.
Some Common Toxins Include:
Human Foods - chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, and xylitol (found in some peanut butters).
Plants - daffodils, lillies, aloe vera, sago palms, and tulips.
Household Chemicals - cleaning products, insecticides, fertilizer, and rodenticides.
Medication - over the counter and prescription medications, vitamins, etc.
If you suspect or see any signs of poisoning, immediately call your veterinarian or ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center: (888) 426-4453 or Pet Poison Helpline: (855) 764-7661. 💕
