🍪 After exploring her neighborhood, Cookie returned home wobbly, disoriented, and unable to keep her food down. Thanks to the keen instincts of Dr. Julia Fincher at MedVet New Orleans, Cookie was quickly diagnosed with ethylene glycol poisoning – a harmful substance found in antifreeze that's sadly tempting to pets due to its sweet taste.

The incredible critical care team, led by Drs. Jenn Daly and Erin Daniels, swiftly took over Cookie's care. They administered the antidote, Fomepizole, and provided round-the-clock support until Cookie was her playful self again just two days later! 🎉

As we head into the colder months, store antifreeze securely out of your pet's reach and call us immediately if you suspect your pet has ingested it. For more tips on pet safety during the winter, visit our blog post: https://www.medvet.com/pet-cold-safety-tips/ ❄️

When Kid first visited MedVet Akron, he was diagnosed with B cell lymphoma, the most common type of lymphoma in dogs. Dr. Jacqueline Bloch-Miles started Kid on the CHOP chemotherapy protocol this spring and he recently graduated from his chemotherapy treatment 🎓 .

The CHOP protocol involves rotating through three different types of chemotherapies for a total of 16 treatments. Kid was a true champion throughout, experiencing very few side effects.

As a beloved therapy dog at the Cleveland Clinic's pediatric facility, Kid plays a vital role in bringing comfort and joy to families during challenging times.

We wish Kid all the best as he continues his important work of bringing smiles to those who need it most! 🌟

🎉 Join us in celebrating a monumental milestone at MedVet New Orleans! They have completed their 300th extracorporeal treatment therapy, a lifesaving process that purifies the bloodstream outside of the body. This incredible service includes techniques like hemodialysis, hemoperfusion, and therapeutic plasma exchange, helping us immediately stabilize and treat pets with severe toxicities or systemic conditions. We're thrilled to offer this advanced care, giving hope where there often is none.

Two patients that recently received this treatment are Aden and Phoebe, our milestone duo! These sweet pups accidentally ingested a lethal dose of Carprofen, a medication that can be highly toxic. Thanks to quick thinking and a call to MedVet New Orleans, the team was able to use hemoperfusion to filter the drug from their bloodstream completely. Within 48 hours, both dogs were happily wagging their way out of the hospital, none the wiser about their recent adventure.

From New Orleans to Salt Lake City, Silicon Valley, and soon Columbus, our extracorporeal services are making a real difference. We're incredibly proud of our critical care team for reaching this milestone and for their unwavering dedication to saving lives every day. A special shoutout to our New Orleans team of caregivers for continuing to champion this incredible treatment. Here's to many more success stories like Aden and Phoebe! 🐶

After tragically being hit by a car, Tedeux, an 8-year-old Cane Corso, was brought into MedVet New Orleans with serious injuries, including internal bleeding a collapsed lung, lung bruises, a traumatic brain injury, and a dislocated hip. Our caregivers jumped into action, putting him on mechanical ventilation to help him breathe while the team tackled his other issues.

With the unwavering support of his loving family and our dedicated emergency and critical care teams, Tedeux fought hard and improved day by day. Once stable, he underwent a successful total hip replacement at our MedVet Mandeville hospital.

Today, we're thrilled to share that Tedeux is living a normal life, full of wags and wiggles! His remarkable recovery showcases the power of teamwork, collaboration, and specialized care across multiple hospitals.

A heartfelt thank you to Drs. Julia Fincher, Jenn Daly, Brigitte McAtee, Keith Jarrett, Lindsey Harvey, Cody Doyle, and the amazing teams at both hospitals for making Tedeux’s recovery possible!

MedVet is celebrating National Nonprofit Day by spotlighting a very special program near and dear to our caregivers: the AVMF REACH Program.

We understand unexpected pet emergencies and specialty veterinary care may be a financial burden for pet families — this program breaks down barriers to access veterinary care by offering grants to over 100,000 AVMA members nationwide. Through the AVMF REACH Program and on behalf of our clients, MedVet veterinarians proudly support charitable care when financial barriers could keep patients from getting the care they need.
