It’s great fun to celebrate the holidays with our pets, but make sure you keep track of what they’re eating! Keep your pets safe with these five tips:

1. Alcohol poisoning can cause serious complications, so keep wine glasses and beer bottles away from sneaky paws.
2. Try to keep cats from climbing Christmas trees, as kitties could knock the trees over and seriously hurt themselves in the process.
3. Almost all traditional winter plants, like holly, poinsettias, and mistletoe, can cause severe organ damage if pets ingest them. These plants may look pretty, but think twice before bringing them into your home this season.
4. Shiny, sparkly wrapping paper, and ribbon look like fun toys, but pets can accidentally ingest them while playing. Clean up as soon as gifts are opened.
5. Many holiday treats are full of fruits, like raisins and grapes, and sweets, like chocolate and xylitol, that are toxic to our pets. Keep that plate of treats in the kitchen and away from pets.

Moon beat FIP! We would like to say a hospital-wide congratulations to Moon! Moon came to us in June because of an inability to walk properly in his back legs. Moon was not doing well and had lost an extreme amount of body weight. After examination and testing, Moon was diagnosed with FIP, or feline infectious peritonitis, specifically the neurologic form. Before June of 2024, there was no approved treatment for FIP. FIP is an infectious viral disease that most often affects kittens and is fatal without treatment. Thankfully, a revolutionary treatment for FIP became available just weeks before Moon was diagnosed. Moon's owners were able to start treatment for him just in time, and he immediately began eating better, gaining his strength back, and his neurologic condition greatly improved.
Dr. Baron has been working with Moon since his diagnosis in June, and he was just cleared for a wellness exam and deemed healthy! He has since doubled his body weight and is thriving at home! We would like to extend a special thanks to Moon's owners for having him promptly evaluated and starting treatment on time--they saved his life! Congratulations Moon, our first graduate from the new FIP treatment protocol!

Happy International Drool Day from Cheese (big boy) & Lena (boston!)

"That’s cheese (government name: Chief) I always joke I can’t ever have anything nice bc of him and his drool but he’s 10000% worth ever drop. He’s a total princess bc he’s been spoiled rotten his whole life. He cries a lot like baby when he wants something but he’s very sweet and cuddly."

"Lena likes to blow bubbles."
