One of the most common statements we hear is "My pets don't have fleas". Fleas and ticks are very small creatures and you won't always see them, especially on cats who are fastidious groomers. Your pets can still be bitten even if the flea doesn't camp out and the bite is the issue. With the very warm weather fleas and ticks are very active right now, Preventative treatment is the only way to offer continued protection from these nasty little bugs. Ask your veterinarian about the best options.

Please don’t forget how fast this can happen. Dogs and cats are more likely to overheat than humans because they have fewer sweat glands and can only cool off by panting. Pets should be well monitored during hot temperatures like we are currently having. Make sure they have access to plenty of water and a place to rest out of the sun.

It was such a great opportunity to introduce the valuable field of Veterinary Medicine to young minds. Our team is so fortunate to have such a great example to follow in a field that can be very difficult at times. She will be celebrating 15yrs at Claus Paws in a few days. ❤️

Since procedures like this can be expensive it’s important to consider an insurance plan early on in your pets life that will support this care.

Parasite prevention is extremely important. Ultimately, it never gets cold enough for fleas and ticks to die in our area. They are always present and there will be an increase with the warm weather. Parasites can cause a great deal of harm to your pets, please protect them! Just because you don’t see these tiny creatures doesn’t mean they aren’t there.
