Patient Success Story: Milo ๐Ÿพ

Milo is a 2 year old Labrador Retriever who was referred to our Rehab Center after his bilateral TPLO surgery with Dr. Spencer at Columbia River Veterinary Specialists in October. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ

He started 'Prehab' 1 week before his surgery to help him get used to the equipment and Rehabilitation room. Then 2 weeks post-surgery he started his Post TPLO Surgery Rehabilitation Program. He attended rehab once a week for 5 weeks, then transitioned to every 2 weeks until 8 sessions were completed. He graduated from MVVH Rehab on 1/29/25 and is doing great! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿถ

He was a wonderful student that worked hard at his home exercise program and every rehab session. We are so proud of him and his dedication to getting better. Milo is back to being his active and fun loving self again! ๐Ÿ’•

March is Pet Poison Prevention Month! โ˜ ๐Ÿคข

As we start getting ready for spring and spring cleaning check your house for any potential toxins for your pets. Most common toxins that pets are exposed to at home are human medications ๐Ÿ’Š, plants ๐ŸŒฟ, cleaning supplies ๐Ÿงผ, human food ๐Ÿง„, and pest treatments ๐Ÿœ.

Before bringing something new into the home, do a quick search to see if it is safe for your pets. If they do get into something they shouldn't call the pet poison helpline or go directly to your local ER.

It is the last day of Dental Health Awareness Month ๐Ÿ˜!

We encourage and promote the importance of dental health year round! The first example here shows the difference a simple cleaning can make ๐Ÿฆท๐Ÿ˜.

The second example is the result of the in depth oral exam every patient gets when they come in for a dental procedure. See that swelling around the front lower canine tooth? Upon further diagnostics and investigation, our team found out it was cancer ๐Ÿคฏ. The early discovery will be vital in this pet's recovery and treatment! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’œ

For Dental Health Month we are highlighting some cases that show the importance of dental care for your pets! ๐Ÿฆท๐Ÿ˜

During the dental procedure the vet is able to utilize x-rays and in depth oral exams to get a true evaluation of a pet's dental health. These are some great examples of fractures that could not be seen by just looking at the pet's teeth. Left untreated these fractures could have built up bacteria and become infected. Leading to pain and difficulty eating for these kiddos. ๐Ÿ˜”

The first example had a complicated root fracture that could not be seen at all above the gum line, but became very clear upon looking at the x-ray. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ•

The second example is a pet that had extreme tartar build up on their back upper molar. Once that tartar was removed, the team found an open fracture on the tooth.๐Ÿคฏ ๐Ÿฆท

It is National Cat Health Month ๐Ÿ˜ป!

Cats are known for hiding their pain and discomfort very very well ๐Ÿ˜ฟ. But no one knows your cat like you! Keep an eye out for subtle changes in your cat. Talk to your vet if you notice any changes in their habits, behavior, or physical appearance. Even if your cat seems healthy, continue to bring them in for their annual exams so that we can catch anything early and monitor what "normal" means for your pet. ๐Ÿพ.
