libby
Patient Success Story: Libby
Libby is a 5 year old Miniature Dachshund who came to our rehabilitation team after receiving 2 major spinal surgeries. Their goal is to get Libby active and back to normal activity as much as possible. Libby enjoys being outside and playing and chasing rabbits🐰.
Libby started her journey being able to put weight on her hind limbs however, they were weak and had muscle atrophy. She started on underwater treadmill, Laser therapy, TherEx and a home exercise program.
Libby has since completed her initial 8 sessions of rehab and now continues rehab once every 2 weeks for underwater treadmill therapy to help keep Libby strong and decrease chance of re-injury. Libby is now back to her mostly normal activity of walking, playing and will escape to chase her rabbits😄.
Phoebe
Patient Success Story: Phoebe
Phoebe started her rehabilitation journey in March of 2021, due to an injury to her shoulder and for her IVDD flare ups. Phoebe bounced back quickly from these injuries with the help of multiple rehabilitation therapies. 😎
Phoebe continued coming into rehab regularly with a focus on improving strength on core muscles, hindlimb muscles and back muscles 💪. Even though she has had an IVDD flare up or two over the past few years, the recovery time has decreased drastically. 🥰
She continues to come weekly for underwater treadmill and her obstacle course for mental stimulation, exercise, and strength training. As you can see in this video, Phoebe LOVES her obstacle course and has so much fun with our rehab team 💕. You would never guess she is in her golden years at 14 years old!
"What I didn’t expect, was the dramatic change in Phoebe’s happiness, alertness and activity level that just one hour a week of expert attention brought her. Now, even though she is very blind due to age related cataracts, almost everyone still mistakes her for a puppy at first glance on our walks and expresses amazement at her advanced age and spryness. The rehab team also made recommendations for a better diet which has added to her glowing health.
Thank you, Rehab Team for the wonderful quality time you have helped add to Phoebe’s life!" - Phoebe's Mom🥰

Trixie
Trixie was so much fun to have in the clinic for the day. She spent the day at the clinic to get spayed and was not happy having to be in a kennel. Don't worry she got lots of attention and played with all the toys! 🐈🥰

Raina
Patient Success Story: Raina
Raina suffered a left CCL tear (torn knee ligament) on 8/29/23. Unfortunately, this is a very common injury among active dogs, especially medium-large breeds. She was scheduled for surgery to repair the damage, but would have to wait 2 months for the specialist.
During those 2 months of waiting Raina came in for rehabilitation once a week. During the pre-surgery time she under went cold laser therapy, massage, and underwater treadmill. This helped to keep her muscle strong and developed since she was not able to use it normally. Also helped to prevent her from further injuring herself.
She had her TPLO surgery on 10/24/23 and continued with rehab for 8 weeks to regain strength in that leg. She received shockwave therapy 2 weeks after her surgery to help decrease the inflammation and pain. Her recovery has been incredible! In just those 8 weeks she is back to using her leg at almost 100% and has regained the ability to do all the things she loves! ❤️🐶

Baz Success Story
Patient Success Story Baz:
Baz is a 2 year old poodle mix that was hit by a car in summer of 2023. He was brought to Columbia River Veterinary Specialists ER to be treated. Due to some complications Baz was unable to get the surgery he needed right away. He was finally able to get his FHO surgery at CRVS on 6/18/23 which saved his leg.
Unfortunately, due to having to wait for his surgery he was unable to put any weight on his back right leg. We started his rehab journey with our team on 6/30/23. He started on his rehab plan of exercises, underwater treadmill, laser therapy, and more.
We are so happy to say that after consistent work and dedication by our team and his new mom (vet from CRVS). Baz is walking again! He is able to use that back right leg and his quality of life has improved significantly!
