Founded in 1897, the Humane Society for Southwest Washington is the largest and oldest animal welfare organization in Southwest Washington. HSSW is an independent nonprofit with campuses in Vancouver and Longview, Washington. Each year, HSSW cares for thousands of pets. We provide shelter to lost and stray animals, a refuge from abuse and neglect, essential medical care, and a lifesaving second ch

ance. Our commitment to the pets and people of Southwest Washington extends beyond the shelter, providing critical support to pets and families with Wellness Clinics, pet food assistance, spay/neuter, emergency boarding, financial assistance, and other programs that help keep families together. We also own and operate ReTails Thrift Store. Giving new life to gently-used items, every purchase and donation at ReTails supports our lifesaving work with the animals. Wanna hear some GREAT news? 🙌🎉 Luna has been found! (That's a big yawn... she's been on a big journey!) Thank you to the incredible Keri-Lyn at I Paw'd It Forward, her army of volunteers, and everyone who helped spread the word and watch out for Luna. Thanks to your efforts, this sweet gal is safe and warm tonight, tucked in at HSSW.

Luna had been missing since December 30 (!!) and her last sighting was last weekend. Luna was spotted near her last known location around Camas Meadows earlier today, and Keri-Lynn was able to place a trap and get her in out of the cold. They say it takes a village and it's never been more true. We are so grateful for the village that made this happen. Thank you! 🤗

🎉🐶 PUPPY PARTY! 🐶🎉 We joined Emily Burris and Travis Teich this morning on KOIN News AM Extra with seven (!!) puppies who will soon be looking for new homes. These puppies were abandoned at a local vet and quickly made their way to HSSW. They'll soon be spayed/neutered and you'll find them at hssw.org/puppies when they're ready to be adopted - likely Friday or over the weekend and into next week. ABOUT US

The Humane Society for Southwest Washington is dedicated to fostering a community where all creatures are treated with compassion and respect. Founded in 1897, the Humane Society has a long tradition of caring for the animals of southwest Washington and surrounding areas. By working in collaboration with local veterinarians and animal rescue groups, the Humane Society and its partners in animal welfare look forward to a future where all companion animals will live in a loving home. Through the work of our full-time and part-time staff, and compassionate volunteers, the Humane Society for Southwest Washington offers an array of humane programs, including pet adoptions, community education, pet behavior advice, spay/neuter assistance and low-cost pet adoptions for seniors.

The Humane Society for Southwest Washington is a private non-profit, 501(c)(3) animal shelter and we appreciate your support. All donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. We are not affiliated with national humane societies. We do not receive federal or state funding. We rely on the generous support of donors in our community.
