Did you know some shih tzu dogs have rear dew claws? I found this one under some matted fur and the sharp point was starting to grow into the leg! Luckily, I nipped it before there was more than a little sore on the sweet girl's skin. Daily (weekly at minimum) brushing is required to maintain a long coat and overall health! Matted fur can hide or cause skin conditions, entire toes, and ear or bladder infections. Kudos to the pup's new mom and dad for getting her up to date on vaccines and a fresh haircut!
