We have babies!
Not as many as I’d hoped for, but 7 out of 13 are developing beautifully. Little bit of a bummer but it’s cold out, and it’s a test hatch for this reason.
I’ll keep test hatching as the spring rolls around and see what happens 😁
I’ve got four Black Copper Marans, two olive eggs and one Legbar egg that have made it to day 7. Those olives and legbar eggs were under Chad, my roo that passed away, so I’m excited to see how these babies turn out!
They will go on lockdown on the 28th and should hatch on or around the 31st 😁
⭐️Also, it’s super hard to see into BCM and olive eggs but I put my phone up to them with my camera on and it lightens things up! Hence the video 😅 So, fun fact of the day…the more ya know right?
We have a baby silkie!
I got a half dozen silkie eggs from a local farm here, to test out my incubator. I didn’t know if it was me, the shipped eggs, the incubator, or all three.
The last two hatches in the spring did not go well at all. My hatch rate was like 0-10%.
Anyways, I only had three out of six make it to lockdown and this little guy in particular, had been stuck with his beak sticking out for well over 24 hours. I did not have high hopes for the little guy.
Until I went to check on them and BOOM, he was out!
I just love incubating 😁 I wasn’t going to keep these little guys but..ya know…chicken math strikes again 😅
