❄️🥶 Ice Storm 2024 - So beautiful yet So destructive….. been out of power since Sunday. But candlelight dinners are the best. Lost the greenhouse extension, but at least the main greenhouses are holding strong ! Cold yet warmed by the incredible beauty nature takes in this form. Also loving how community comes together at these times. A sweet reminder how sweet life is even in the cold ice ❄️ stay warm and safe out there everyone ❄️

🌿 These two grape varieties are so sweet and delicious- it’s the perfect snack for our employees as the take a break from working. My hope is to plant more sweet grape varieties around the land - grapes are soo easy to grow and give soo much. Yum !!

🌸 At the farm , we like flowers … not just any flowers …. Beneficial flowers from herbs , cover crops , pest control , nutrient giving , and of course beautifying every place we look 👀 🌸 little Coco agrees !!

🥕🍅🥬 This Saturday is opening day at the 2023 Farmers market !! We won’t have our veggies there this day but I plan to bring my voice , guitar, and play some music !! 🌻Smoke in the air - and power out all day due to this fire weather and large forest fire east of us 🌻 praying for the town of Oakridge - and hoping it rains soon ! 🌻

🧄 I discovered something new …. A third way to process garlic whips …. Every harvest , we take off all the garlic whips (flowers) so that the garlic plant puts all its energy into the bulb for a good plump finish.
We stir fry the garlic whips
And we also dehydrate them and then blend them into a powder for incredible seasoning.
This year our dehydrator was not working soo I tried to dehydrate them in a sunny warm spot inside our home. Come to find that did not work and the whips just turned brown but also grew thier flowers !!!!! Which opened and burst into seed ( which are thousands of tiny garlic cloves ) !!!! So I gathered all the cloves into a bowl and sprinkled some into a dish I was cooking and wow !!! Tastes amazing ! No peel or chop. - it was also cool to see some seeds ended up red and big. Garlic is soo amazing !!🧄
