Love On A Leash (LOAL) is a national non-profit organization that assesses and certifies pet therapy teams while bringing stress relief and comfort to those in need.

Congratulations to Brad Robinson and his dog Todd, the latest of our 'teams in training' with the LOAL Ventura Chapter. Brad was referred to us by Peter Frank and Dali, so thanks to Peter for sharing this opportunity. Brad and Todd passed the control evaluation with flying colors since Todd is a retired service dog now on the way to becoming a certified therapy dog. Please introduce yourself to Brad and Todd and help me welcome them to our chapter.

Congratulations to our newest team in training: Sarah Gordon and Barbie. Sarah has been wanting to get certified as a LOAL Pet Therapy Team for several years. We're delighted she's now "in training" and on her way to achieving that goal. Please introduce yourselves when you can, especially if you're near the Hill Road Library. She and Barbie are beginning their supervised visits there.

Congratulations to Bill Ferguson and Riley for becoming our Ventura Chapter's newest LOAL-certified pet therapy team. Bill is already LOAL-certified with his other dog, Hank, so this was his second time going through the process. We welcome you both and look forward to working together over the coming months.

Can you even imagine how fun it is for high school students to go to school and spend time loving and enjoying such sweet dogs? One student confessed he had nearly stayed home that day but was happy he didn't miss being with the dogs.

Ventura High School (VHS) opens new Wellness Center and invites our LOAL teams to bring puppy love to campus to help reduce student stress. Fun first visit, but we could've used another 10 dogs to meet the needs of all those students. Come join us for our next visit.

Foothill Technology High School student, Rhea Gill, presented her school's report at the recent VUSD School Board Meeting. She discussed the value of having therapy dogs visit her campus to help students de-stress before finals. Thanks Rhea for spreading the word and thanks to Rebecca Wulff, for including LOAL in Fur Fridays held twice a month.

Congratulations to Debbi B. and Rocket for completing their 10 supervised visits. Since Debbi doesn't have a dog of her own, and her cat Josie doesn't like to be touched or picked up by anyone she knows, let alone strangers, Debbi will become certified as an alternate handler for Rocket and Rocket's delighted.
