If you didn’t read my previous post, read that first. I’ve been healing ❤️‍🩹 my gut from being very ill with Thyroid Storm. I did the Carnivore Diet to heal most of it and now switched to a probiotic gut healing protocol and intermittent fasting. Will probably go back to carnivore after. Sometimes you have to switch things up and listen to the biological feedback your body gives you

Good Morning! 🌞
This may be long and need to be finished in the comment section. My guys are all at the markets this morning while I continue to take care of my health. For many of you that have been paying attention to my journey, you know that the first 4 months of the year I was very sick with Thyroid Storm. Here’s the definition, Thyroid storm, also known as thyroid crisis, is a rare and life-threatening condition that occurs when the thyroid gland releases a large amount of thyroid hormones in a short period. It’s a complication of hyperthyroidism, or an overactive thyroid. If left untreated, it’s almost always fatal.
That being said, it happened because I was foolish and went off my thyroid medication I had been on for 25 years, thinking that I didn’t really need it. Simultaneously I got a bad bronchitis that lasted for 2 months. I was still working a ton including doing the Saturday Old Town Newhall Market every Saturday because we were short staffed. If you saw me during that time you probably didn’t notice I was so sick. I’m pretty good at keeping myself together and then going home and feeling like death. I had been doing the Carnivore diet off and on for 2 years and had lost and kept off about 60 lbs. During the holidays along with the time I was my sickest, I did not do carnivore. Pretty much whatever I felt like eating. Which wasn’t a lot and didn’t change my weight. On March, around St Patrick’s Day, I decided to go back on Carnivore because I know I had a lot of inflammation. My hands and wrists hurt so bad and my enlarged thyroid in my neck was swollen and aching. I had been back on thyroid medicine and was just waiting to feel better. I had no energy at that point. I should have been in the hospital honestly but I didn’t want to be pumped full of medicine I didn’t want. My blood test showed 116.9 and normal range is 3.5-5.5. 😬
The day after St Patrick’s day, I did strict Carnivore, I only was eating my grass fed beef, pasture raised eggs, chicken, butter, tallow and lots of water. Within 3 days my hand, wrist pain was gone. Within 2 weeks I felt somewhat normal and all the puffiness in my face and hands went down. By the end of May, I was down 30 lbs and was able to start walking. I felt somewhat normal and much better. I had my blood test done and my thyroid was back to 2.5 which was ridiculous how fast it had changed. Even my Doctor was shocked. All of that being said, I’m a huge fan of doing the Carnivore diet to do a very deep dive into healing things fast. I’ve tested it out several times now and in over 2 years I’m convinced it’s the fastest healing protocol there is especially at reducing inflammation. So by the end of May, I started having stomach and digestive issues that were so bothersome that I had to make a change in my diet. It’s definitely important to listen to our bodies and my gut literally was telling me to make a change. I healed what I needed to heal but now my body was having a hard time with the high fat. So I now am doing intermittent fasting 18/6 With a probiotic gut diet that I made up 😂. I am having organic fruit, overnight chia seeds in kefir, eggs and raw cheddar for breakfast. For lunch I have some of my chicken, turkey or beef with fermented veggies and beet kvass. Then I fast for 18 hours water only.
Within 2 days my stomach felt better and now 21 days in I’ve lost another 10 lbs and feel fantastic! I feel so light and in the first time since I was a teenager, running feels so good. I’m walking and running 5-6 days a week and just added in weight training at my home gym. I will forever support the carnivore diet community and will probably go back on it again but less fat. I feel we also need to listen to our built in biologic feedback our bodies naturally give us and change things up occasionally.

Happy Father’s Day to my dad, Terry! This song playing, is his favorite song and his favorite past time…sailing. He’s very talented, even built a Sailboat with his Dad that sailed on a lake in Minnesota at our families cabin for many years. My dad did many creative things over the years to keep his girls happy! My mom, sister, Corinna and I, were a handful as you can imagine. Right now, he has been battling bladder cancer and just finished his last round of chemotherapy. He has been my mother’s caregiver for many years through her cancer and now she’s been his caregiver. I’ve been blessed with my dad as an example of hard work, craftsmanship in everything he touches, and a master for making sure everyone is resolved and happy 🎗 👑❤️

😊🏃‍♀️🗺️ I’ve been working on adding in running with my walking each day and today I felt ambitious and kicked myself in the a$$! 😂 I used to be a runner, for many years especially in my younger years. 20 years ago in 2005 I was training for a marathon with Team in Training and 1 month before the marathon, my husband at the time was diagnosed with cancer. I stopped training immediately and helped him go through the worst, most grueling chemotherapy regimen there is…for testicular cancer. We had 3 of our children at the time, and I was homeschooling them and potty training Savannah at 2 years old. We had just moved into our dream house we built. I let myself go from that moment in time moving forward. Always being a care taker and lo and behold, against all odds, 2 years after testicular cancer, I found out we were having our surprise baby, Chase! This was pretty much unheard of after testicular cancer. Chase is a blessing and always will be our light during a challenging time. We lost our house and rental house in the housing crisis in 2007 and my husband never was able to go back to work and the unraveling of our marriage took its toll. Starting Harvest Gathering Farm 10 years ago was my saving grace but still never took the time to take care of myself as I found myself a single mom with full financial and emotional support of my 4 kids. I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Now that my kids are grown and helping more with the business, I’m now taking back my health! I’ve been working on it for 2 years. So running this morning was huge success for me and I’m planning on a 5 k in August and will be training these next 2 months and on my way to the Marathon I set out to do 20 years ago. ❤️

🌹🥰 Every once in awhile you meet someone who touches your life in such amazing ways. I’m so blessed to have Brooke in my life. Our friendship is one of a kind. Even though there is an age gap between us, I’m younger…… 😂 jk. We’ve been friends for over 5 years and have shared heart felt stories, worries, challenges, accomplishments and celebrations of many joys. She has been my biggest fan, (as I am hers) brings me up when I’m down and dreams up all the best for me. I especially love when she shows up in an uber unannounced at my house on just the right night to celebrate whatever it is! 😂 Impromptu and surprises are the key 🔑 to my heart ❤️ ! Love you Brooke, I would give you the world if I could! 🥰

🥚 🍳 🐓 10 years ago, I started my business with only eggs. I had over 1000 Rhode Island Reds. But before that my kids and I had chickens in our back yard. We had taken their outgrown bunk bed and turned it into our first chicken shelter. I have yet to find that photo. Raising chickens for eggs is a labor of love. When people laugh at my price of eggs I think to myself…if you only knew what it entails on a small operation to raise chickens for eggs and the labor it takes every day. Not to mention it takes over 6 months for chickens to get to the point where they are laying eggs. During the winter, they don’t lay eggs every day. Thank you to my farmers that do this every day to provide for my family and customers. Because I’m so busy with the meat part of my business, we do not have enough eggs to bring to the farmers markets but you can order them. We have never fed them corn or soy

In a blink of an eye all my kids are into adulthood, with my youngest, Chase, in 1 year will be there too. Wow, time flies! Being a mom to Chase has been so much fun and he makes my life better every day! Love this kid to pieces! ❤️🥹 If you see him at today wish him Happy Birthday! 🎂 I offered him to have the day off and yet he wanted to go to the market. He and his siblings and a few friends went to Magic Mountain 🎢 last week so I guess he’s good!

Modeling at the farm, 😂 Today none of the animals wanted to come out of their shelters but we did feed them some left over organic produce from the farmers markets and probiotic mash. The farm is run by solar power as you can see from photo. The empty spaces where there are shelters is where the mama pigs are resting either nursing piglets or getting ready for birth inside their little homes. All the animals have shelters and pasture to go back-and-forth. But middle of the day when it was hot most of them were in their protected shade areas.

❤️🌹🥰 Good morning! I’m heading to one of the farms this morning with my kids. I’ll share some pictures later. I’m on a journey to reclaim my health, and I’m being vulnerable here, sharing a photo I’m embarrassed of. The second photo is of me at my heaviest, over 10 years ago. I was in pain, lost, and hiding behind layers. I knew I had a purpose to do something big and amazing, but I felt stuck and sinking in a sad marriage of over 20 years. I was verbally abused, emotionally drained, tired, and had an emotional affair with food because I was empty. I knew my kids were at risk of following that example. Gosh, even writing this is flooding painful memories and bad patterns I had created. Starting Harvest Gathering Farm was a start, ending my marriage and saving my kids and I, was my first priority. So here I am 10 years later, not only thriving but my kids and I building an incredibly purposeful business from the quicksand that was engulfing us. What has it taken all these years? Grit, determination, patience, therapy, love, and many kind customers who believed in me. But most of all, taking responsibility for where I had gotten. It wasn’t anyone else’s fault. I’ve had to apologize to my kids many times, and to my customers, and farmers. Even to my ex. I’ve had to look deep in the mirror as I am in this photo from this morning to continue to rise above and take the risk of falling and believing there is a net to catch me. There always has been. But taking that jump is everything.
