Good Morning! 🌞
This may be long and need to be finished in the comment section. My guys are all at the markets this morning while I continue to take care of my health. For many of you that have been paying attention to my journey, you know that the first 4 months of the year I was very sick with Thyroid Storm. Here’s the definition, Thyroid storm, also known as thyroid crisis, is a rare and life-threatening condition that occurs when the thyroid gland releases a large amount of thyroid hormones in a short period. It’s a complication of hyperthyroidism, or an overactive thyroid. If left untreated, it’s almost always fatal.
That being said, it happened because I was foolish and went off my thyroid medication I had been on for 25 years, thinking that I didn’t really need it. Simultaneously I got a bad bronchitis that lasted for 2 months. I was still working a ton including doing the Saturday Old Town Newhall Market every Saturday because we were short staffed. If you saw me during that time you probably didn’t notice I was so sick. I’m pretty good at keeping myself together and then going home and feeling like death. I had been doing the Carnivore diet off and on for 2 years and had lost and kept off about 60 lbs. During the holidays along with the time I was my sickest, I did not do carnivore. Pretty much whatever I felt like eating. Which wasn’t a lot and didn’t change my weight. On March, around St Patrick’s Day, I decided to go back on Carnivore because I know I had a lot of inflammation. My hands and wrists hurt so bad and my enlarged thyroid in my neck was swollen and aching. I had been back on thyroid medicine and was just waiting to feel better. I had no energy at that point. I should have been in the hospital honestly but I didn’t want to be pumped full of medicine I didn’t want. My blood test showed 116.9 and normal range is 3.5-5.5. 😬
The day after St Patrick’s day, I did strict Carnivore, I only was eating my grass fed beef, pasture raised eggs, chicken, butter, tallow and lots of water. Within 3 days my hand, wrist pain was gone. Within 2 weeks I felt somewhat normal and all the puffiness in my face and hands went down. By the end of May, I was down 30 lbs and was able to start walking. I felt somewhat normal and much better. I had my blood test done and my thyroid was back to 2.5 which was ridiculous how fast it had changed. Even my Doctor was shocked. All of that being said, I’m a huge fan of doing the Carnivore diet to do a very deep dive into healing things fast. I’ve tested it out several times now and in over 2 years I’m convinced it’s the fastest healing protocol there is especially at reducing inflammation. So by the end of May, I started having stomach and digestive issues that were so bothersome that I had to make a change in my diet. It’s definitely important to listen to our bodies and my gut literally was telling me to make a change. I healed what I needed to heal but now my body was having a hard time with the high fat. So I now am doing intermittent fasting 18/6 With a probiotic gut diet that I made up 😂. I am having organic fruit, overnight chia seeds in kefir, eggs and raw cheddar for breakfast. For lunch I have some of my chicken, turkey or beef with fermented veggies and beet kvass. Then I fast for 18 hours water only.
Within 2 days my stomach felt better and now 21 days in I’ve lost another 10 lbs and feel fantastic! I feel so light and in the first time since I was a teenager, running feels so good. I’m walking and running 5-6 days a week and just added in weight training at my home gym. I will forever support the carnivore diet community and will probably go back on it again but less fat. I feel we also need to listen to our built in biologic feedback our bodies naturally give us and change things up occasionally.
