Summer really flew by! We still have several nice kittens and adult cats available for adoption. Our college students have all left to pursue their pre-veterinary studies: Ava to West Virginia U, Jolee to Findlay, and Emma to Ohio State. We wish them all the best and thank them for their help. We do have some part-time positions available if anyone’s looking. Since this is Lorain County Fair week, we will be operating with a skeleton staff so please plan accordingly. Good luck to all fair exhibitors!

Canine Companions is a national organization that provides highly trained service dogs to people with disabilities. Since there is never a charge to the recipient, this program could not exist without the generosity of the foster families who take these canines into their homes as puppies and provide for all their care and training. We have had the pleasure of seeing several of these dogs over the years. Today we want to recognize Steve & Cindy Holovacs, whose companion “Kirbi” left them last week to officially start his service dog training. A heartfelt thank-you to everyone affiliated with this wonderful organization.

More kittens!!!!! Apparently there’s an abundance of stray cats at Pinecrest Apartments off Middle Ridge Road in Amherst. Our new clients befriended a pregnant cat who had taken up residence on their balcony there, and allowed her inside to give birth. The kittens are now 8 weeks old. They need to find homes but all the rescues are full. Mama tested negative today for FeLV/FIV/HW. Kittens have been given first vaccinations and dewormed. Please share this post. 440-967-VETS. Mama will also be available as soon as she’s spayed.

Isn’t anyone looking for an adorable ball of black fluff? This little girl has been here now for 3 weeks. Half a dozen other kittens have come and gone in that time frame. She’s beginning to think she belongs here!

Yesterday a Good Samaritan brought us these two kittens in a 5-gallon bucket. He had encountered them beside their dead mother, a calico, on the side of Darrow Road. Please let us know if you’re interested in adopting or fostering them. They’re FeLV/FIV negative, on antibiotics for sniffles, and taking milk replacer like champs.

A month ago we posted this sweet little lost dog found running loose near Beaver Park Marina. After a few weeks of attempting to locate an owner, we got permission from the Lorain County Dog Warden to adopt her out. George & Sherry saw our post and decided to give it a try, despite her exceptionally high energy level. We were happy to learn today that it’s official! Her name is now Minnie and she couldn’t ask for a better home.

A feral cat is currently living with her kittens in the flowerbeds of a local business (which prefers not to be identified). Just one (this sweet little ball of fluff, a female) has been brought in so far and tested negative for feline leukemia/FIV. She is pictured here with Emma, who fostered her over the Memorial Day weekend. Foster or forever homes are needed for all these kittens. If interested, you may call us at (440) 967-8387 (regarding the black kitten) or Hailee at (419) 917-6028 (regarding the other kittens). Once the kittens are placed, we’ll try to catch mom cat and spay her.

PLEASE SHARE: Does anyone recognize this handsome fellow? We’re told that he was left with neighbor(s)when his owner moved from Crystal Shores. His name is Dex. He is not microchipped. He was brought to us by one of the neighbors. We need to confirm that he is indeed available and in need of a home. Please call us if you have any information.

“In like a lion, out like a lamb”? We saw lots of adorable puppies in March, all sizes of adult dogs, some lovely cats, and the occasional exotic. Here are 31 of our favorite photos. No actual lions but a few wannabes. No lambs either, but we did see our first-ever Fluffy Frenchie!
