Mary, who lives in Sandusky, found one of these kittens in an abandoned crate in the parking lot of Dorn Park about a month ago while walking her dog. She took the kitten home but, after seeing how filthy the crate was, decided there must have been more than one kitten. She returned to the park the next day to search for more kittens. Not only did she find 4 more in a wooded area near the parking lot … she also found their mother! Three of the kittens are still available. They’re all males. Mama cat also needs a home as soon as she’s spayed. Please contact us if interested.

A mama cat watched dogs kill 4 of her kittens and is now rejecting the remaining 2 who are here at our clinic. If mama can be located and brought in we will try to reunite the family but, otherwise, we are looking for a volunteer to foster these itty-bitty babies.

Summer really flew by! We still have several nice kittens and adult cats available for adoption. Our college students have all left to pursue their pre-veterinary studies: Ava to West Virginia U, Jolee to Findlay, and Emma to Ohio State. We wish them all the best and thank them for their help. We do have some part-time positions available if anyone’s looking. Since this is Lorain County Fair week, we will be operating with a skeleton staff so please plan accordingly. Good luck to all fair exhibitors!

Canine Companions is a national organization that provides highly trained service dogs to people with disabilities. Since there is never a charge to the recipient, this program could not exist without the generosity of the foster families who take these canines into their homes as puppies and provide for all their care and training. We have had the pleasure of seeing several of these dogs over the years. Today we want to recognize Steve & Cindy Holovacs, whose companion “Kirbi” left them last week to officially start his service dog training. A heartfelt thank-you to everyone affiliated with this wonderful organization.
