Just a note from your local emergency vet as we enter a holiday weekend...
😓 We're going to be BUSY. This isn't just a holiday thing; in the Covid world it's an all-the-time thing for veterinarians everywhere. There are far more sick animals than there are veterinarians. Emergencies aren't random; they're often predictable and preventable. Please do all you can to keep your pets out of trouble.
💉 If you normally see another local vet for routine care, please reach out to them FIRST for non-emergency concerns. We do see pets for wellness care, but since we must be available 24/7 for life-threatening emergencies, we must limit the number of new clients we can accept for routine care.
🚑 We will ALWAYS help you in a true emergency. Sometimes we'll tell you to drive here immediately, or we might book you an appointment for later the same day if it's not a life-threatening concern. Sometimes we'll tell you to try calling other hospitals to see if they can see your pet sooner than we can. We want your pet to get the help they need as soon as possible, whether or not it's with us.
❤ Please be kind to veterinary staff. We have overextended ourselves, jumped through a thousand hoops, re-invented every wheel, and solved problems in ways we never imagined possible in the past two years. We genuinely care about your pets, yet there are hard limits to how much any one of us can do in one day. Abuse of our staff will not be tolerated.
