We've been dewormed de flead and are getting shampooed once a week to help our skin we such good boys
Our 2 colony cats, Lily and Porky finally graduated from crate life to their new cat room last week. Porky started playing with toys and he loves going onto the window perch.
Lily is looking out in the middle cat hut between the two cat trees. She loves sleeping at night on the top bed on the cat tree.
I sure learnt a lot about rescuing feral cats and semi feral cats! It takes a long time for them to trust you, some never do, and those cats, you just TNR them. Even when you get them to a point where they trust you, you get them purring and you get to pick them up and they're loving on you, you then change their involvement, they take a step backwards and hide on you. For a few days, they did not come out from under the tv stand in the corner. They only came out at night. A week later, they have been coming out during the day. Porky is more adventurous and is okay with me in the room. Lily who was the little love bug is still unsure but is doing better. I’m looking forward to the day when they both accept me again and we can work on getting them domesticated and they can find their new home.
Cat rescue is so different than dog rescue and I give cat rescuers a lot of credit for what they do, especially the ones who trap the feral and semi feral cats! It takes a lot of patience and a lot of 1 step forward and 2 step backwards, but eventually the cats get it and come around, and that is what is called rescue. You trap, you give them time, you love them, you accept the going backwards, love the going forwards, love the purring and rubbing on you, and then they find a good home. That is rescue. It’s hard work, but we do it because we love animals.
Robbi and I would like to thank all of you for all the support you give our rescue! It takes a village and you all are our village! Thank you❤️
So you think your cat is okay roaming outside at night, well think again! This is what happens to them when you abandon them or just think they’re okay to roam outside! They are dinner for other wildlife! Not sure what happened to this cat, hope it got away! He/she is new to this colony.
We could really could use some kitten food and toys if anyone would like to donate some! Amazon link listed below. Kittens are starting to eat!

This is Lily ...
Lily was trapped way back in November She was one of our colony cats.
This is why you have to give a cat or dog time to adjust to you and their new environment and time for them to trust you.
You could barely touch Lily, but she was not mean or acting feral. I just gave her time, soft words, showed her lots of love and mostly lots and lots of patience. It took me 6 months to just be able to touch her. Two weeks ago, she finally let me touch her without flinching, and from that moment on, she found out what love was and how much she loved being petted! She now purrs and she always wants attention and of course, she loves to get petted. She still has a way to go, but every day she is moving forward. Lily is very sweet and one day, her and Porky will find their forever home.
Please share Zoey. She has NO interest at all. She's still just a puppy and she's very sweet too! Let's find her a family to call her own. She shouldn't grow up in rescue.

My name is Zoey and I'm a female American Bull Dog/Pitbull mix and I'm 1.5 yrs old and I weigh 65 lbs. I'm white and black in color. I'm spayed and I'm up to date on all my shots. I was 4DX tested and was negative.
I'm housetrained and crate trained. I'm good with other dogs, not sure on cats, and I'm good with older children, no small children because I like to jump. I could use some basic training but who doesn't! I'm a very sweet girl who needs lots of love and patience, and someone who'll give me the best life ever. You won't be sorry, I'm a good girl!
Zoey came into the East Hartford Animal Clinic to be euthanized because her owner could not afford a life saving surgery that Zoey needed, The staff at EHAC couldn't see euthanizing a sweeet puppy and immediately started trying to get Zoey help.
A donor stepped up and donated the money for her surgery she had. The surgery require the removal of 8 inches of her intestines that had become necrotic. Zoey is doing great now and is ready for a new home.
