I hope you heal from the things you don’t speak about.

I hope you tell that guy or gal you love them, like them, or just want to be around them without the fear of rejection.

I hope you look in the mirror and adore what you see.

I hope you let animals, wide open spaces, and conversations with your grandparents slow you down and remind you of what is important in life.

I hope you remember we are not here for long. I miss many souls whom I knew for three, thirteen, and twenty-three years...only to have them taken away in the blink of an eye.

One thing you can't fake? Originality.

You can copy as many talented people as you like - you can remake their work - rephrase it - recolor it - and take new pictures.

But it will never be the same.

Girl, you gotta be YOU. You gotta do YOU.

Find that thing that makes you "tick" and focus every ounce of energy on being the best you can be—originally. The things you produce through imitation will never be as beautiful as they could be if they are from the heart.

People say imitation is the highest form of flattery, but inspiration truly is. Otherwise it is simply hurtful to the creator and half-love of what you produce.

Let’s talk about the challenge of mental game. I feel like it’s such an important component to barrel racing, and it doesn’t get talked about enough.

Over the years, so many people have asked me, “How do you have such a strong mental game?” I think the most important thing to understand is that you have to put in the work for it to become stronger. I’ve read books, listened to podcasts, and have asked for advice from some of the top riders in the country.

A big problem I’ve seen with riders is the constant self doubt. If I’ve learned anything, is that the more doubt you bring into your mind, your brain begins to believe it. Your brain feeds on whatever information you tell it, so you have to be intentional and feed it positive affirmations.

The second biggest problem I’ve seen is people not getting focused. In this picture, I was 12 years old, walking into the JR NFR, headphones in listening to my rap, QUIETLY thinking to myself, I’m GOING to win this.

You don’t have to be cocky to have strong mental game, and sometimes I feel like people get those two things confused. There is a way to quietly say to yourself, I believe in ME, I am the BEST, without showing it outwardly in an obnoxious way. With the combination of quiet confidence, getting focused on your job, and positive affirmations for your brain, you can become unstoppable.
