South Paw Massage and Wellness was founded in 2015 by the owner, lead therapist and board certified canine massage therapy and educational provider, Stacy Gradel. It was a car accident that lead her to this path and journey, well it turns out this was not by accident after all. This was the journey she was meant to pursue and her connection with animals and healing speaks for itself. Massage, holi

If your pet has the “Save this life” microchip, please advise and re-register with another provider.

The closure of a pet microchip company sparks confusion, but AAHA's microchip registry lookup tool can help.

Preparing Your Dog for Air Travel: Tips for a Calm and Comfortable Journey

Air travel can be a new and overwhelming experience for many dogs. With the right preparation, you can help your pup feel secure and ready for the journey ahead. Here are a few tips to get started:
• Crate Training: Introduce your dog to their travel crate well in advance. For tips, check out our blog post on crate training your puppy!
• Desensitize to Sounds: Play airplane or airport sounds at a low volume while engaging in calming activities to help your dog adjust to unfamiliar noises.
• Practice Short Trips: Take short drives with your dog in their crate to simulate the motion and confinement they’ll experience during air travel.
• Visit the Vet: Ensure your dog is healthy and meets the airline’s requirements for travel. Your vet can also provide guidance if your dog tends to experience anxiety.
• Exercise Before Travel: A well-exercised dog is more likely to rest during the flight. Take a long walk or engage in playtime before heading to the airport.

By gradually preparing your dog, you can make air travel a smoother experience for both of you!

Not just for the “Pampered Pooch.”

Professional canine massage and physiotherapy are important elements of a complete wellness program. Whether you have an elderly dog, an athlete, a show dog, or simply a beloved canine companion, massage and bodywork treatments restore, maintain and enhances your dogs' overall physical and emotional well being. You may be familiar with seeing a chiropractor or enjoying a massage yourself, but did you know that these therapies can also have enormous benefits for dogs and cats? No longer just considered for the “pampered pet”, complementary bodywork therapies have been around since the 70’s and has become a normal part of canine and feline physical therapy and rehabilitation. Massage and bodywork treatments restore, maintain and enhances your dogs' overall physical and emotional well being.

Dogs and cats may need bodywork therapy for any number of reasons. Patients include those who have undergone surgery, patients with injuries for which surgery is not indicated, elderly patients with mobility issues, patients with diseases of the nervous system, dogs with abnormal conformations and working and sporting dogs with their unique injuries and needs. Massage also prevents injury, helps with anxiety, builds confidence and feels oh so good!

We use a variety of tailored and specific physical medicine and techniques to restore maximal function and relieve pain. These might involve: Massage therapy, active exercises, passive range of motion exercises, wheelchairs or other support equipment, water therapy, hot/cold therapy and more.

Our team is fully trained, insured and held to the highest standards in the Animal Bodywork Industry. We are recognized and affiliated with many Animal Associations and Boards Internationally. Our continued education is never ending. We want to provide the best for our pets.
