This 13 years young senior cutie has been enjoying his monthly massages for over 2 years now. His owner states that she sees a big difference in his energy, and movement after his massage day. Our massage sessions are 45 minutes, and most dogs learn to love them as they learn it helps them feel better. All senior dogs should be incorporating massage into their wellness plan!

Did you know puppies need up to 18 hours of sleep a day? 😴
Often when your puppy is getting extra bitey, zooming around the house, or becoming hyper-crazy, they’re overtired!
After about an hour of awake time, your puppy will be ready for rest. Otherwise, they become a gremlin!
Generally, I suggest at least two 2-hour crate naps per day as a minimum. This routine can greatly improve your puppy’s behavior.

This information is over 4 years old, it is awesome to see so much more whole food research and education in our veterinarian and pet industries come about! When I first got heavily involved in the pet care industry 11 years ago, there was minimal education about whole food nutrition at major vet schools, conferences and continued education resources. I’m glad more vets and pet care professionals are taking the turn with whole food nutrition and wellness as a whole. 🙌

Finally, we’re at a turning point in veterinary nutrition. ✨ Vets are the last group of formally trained medical professionals to still actively (and sometimes aggressively) promote the exclusive feeding of ultra-processed, pelleted food for a lifetime (birth to death), as a means to achieve longterm health. 🥺❓
This incongruent and unorthodox recommendation is a result of our nutrition education during veterinary medical school. As of now, every vet school around the world is endowed by a Big Pet Food brand, so their nutrition curriculum is funded, prepared and executed (taught) by the top (ultra-processed) pet food manufacturers (or faculty funded by them), so our future vets don’t have access to unbiased nutrition information. But our Next Generation vet students are asking more questions 💥; aren’t less processed, fresher foods healthier for all mammals? How does heat and extended, unregulated, storage temps affect added nutrients, flavorings, palatants and additives 🌡️? Where are all the synthetic nutrients coming from, and is anyone regulating safety? In the U.S., there’s no limit on the amount of copper and other minerals in pet food… and what happens when we feed excessive amounts in perpetuity?
While some vet med students may not feel nutrition is relevant to their future (see link in graphic), and some (correctly) feel they aren’t adequately prepared for the job ahead of them, we have a whole new generation of intelligent, inspired, and empowered veterinary students who actually understand all of these issues, and are moving forward with a clear sense of what needs to happen in veterinary hospitals around the world, but also what has to happen in the industry ☄️. The next generation of present-knowledge vets is here… let’s support the heck out of them❣️

Some dogs struggle to focus and be calm. When dogs get over stimulated and their nervous system hits threshold, it is difficult to get their mind back to the calm state. Which in turn triggers their sympathetic nervous system. When a dog is in this state, they start to have a negative response to what they are doing. In this video, this girl is learning to be calm and to not get over stimulated in our open pack setting. In the beginning of this video she was not able to focus on her treat board much. After just 10 minutes of teaching calming techniques, she was able to get back to earth with us and focus on her treat board a lot more! We use our private rooms a lot to give these dogs the breaks they need. Treat boards are great for controlled mental stimulation and help improve focus and critical thinking skills. #makingprogress

This pup is a rescue and scared of humans. We use a proven successful method that we call “trust building” to build confidence and basically counter condition dogs to humans. In this short clip, we are using treats to lure the dog into our space and over our legs. We then give a soft touch to his body. As you can see at the end of this video he is showing many signs that he is not fully comfortable being touched but rather tolerating it. We keep sessions short, and we use positive reinforcement. A little skill goes a long way. We are looking forward to his success and his soon to be new and improved outgoing personality! 💕

Our martingale safety collars are popular and highly recommended, here’s why: 🐾safety clips provide a quick release if the pet ever gets caught on something. A couple hazards that come to mind include fencing (especially recommended for an active unsupervised cat), and dogs at play as a mouth can get caught on the collar. The safety clip allows for a quick release to free the pet. 🐾Martingale tightening of the collar is a safer option especially for a dog that pulls, the collar will tighten up and prevent them from slipping out of the collar. Our facility allows our furry guests to be indoors or outdoors as they please throughout the day with access thru a dog door. These are some of our outdoor lovers enjoying our Florida sunshine, and of course the cool down pool always has a waiting line! 🤣💦🐾

Our #frenchie guests are loving the cool down pool today! Brachycephalic dogs, such as Bulldogs, Pugs, and French Bulldogs, have short, flat faces, which can lead to various respiratory issues. When these dogs are outside, especially in hot or humid weather, they are at a higher risk for heatstroke and breathing difficulties. Their narrow airways make it harder for them to cool down by panting, which is a dog’s primary way of regulating body temperature. To help keep these guys safe, we limit their time outside, provide plenty of water sources, ensure they have access to shade and A/C, and avoid strenuous activities during warm periods. Our team is also trained in first aid, cpr and heat stroke protocols in the event an issue does arise.
