Veterinarians from the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission and the Churchill Downs equine safety team have their eyes on today’s runners from the moment they leave their stalls. But the scrutiny and assessment started two weeks ago, with daily observation during training and required veterinary exams by both private and regulatory veterinarians.
