Three Chimneys announced that Into Mischief’s Grade 1-winning son, Newgate, will stand at Three Chimneys for the 2025 breeding season upon his retirement. His next planned start is in the $7,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Classic (GI).

SF’s Tom Ryan stated, “Newgate was exceptional from the very beginning of his career. He demonstrated impressive precocity as a two-year-old, breaking his maiden as a TDN ‘Rising Star’ at Del Mar. At 3, Newgate showcased his elite ability in the one 1/16-mile Bob Lewis Stakes, winning with an impressive 100 Beyer, and we believed we had a real Derby contender. However, a setback sidelined our dreams and delayed his return until 2024. He has returned bigger, stronger, and faster, winning a very competitive renewal of the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap. He finished an eye-catching third, beaten a head, in the Grade I California Crown. Newgate is a majestic physical with speed that can carry him a long way. He’s always been one of the most stunning c**ts in Bob’s Shedrow, and that’s a very difficult feat. SF looks forward to continuing our association with Newgate at Three Chimneys.”

Three Chimneys announced today that homebred Gun Pilot, one of Gun Runner’s 13 millionaires and 10 Grade 1 winners, will take up stud duty at Three Chimneys alongside his sire, Gun Runner, for the 2025 breeding season.

A five-time Stakes performer, Gun Pilot’s crowning achievement came this year at Churchill Downs on Derby day where he drew off by daylight in the $1,000,000 Grade 1 Churchill Downs Stakes, through a half in :44 and change with a final time of 1:21 and change. Gun Pilot will be making his final start in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint, coming off a runner-up performance in the $500,000 Grade 1 Forego at Saratoga.

“I would describe him as brilliant and beautiful,” said trainer Steve Asmussen. “He’s unbelievably talented and has a lot of the physical and personality traits of Gun Runner that we love, but he’s a much bigger version. I chased the Kentucky Derby with him last year, but he has proven he is at his best going one turn – he’s extremely fast for a big horse.”

Chairman Gonçalo Torrealba added, “We strongly believe Gun Runner will be a sire of sires and are thrilled to have his Grade I winning son, Gun Pilot, return home and stand alongside his sire for the upcoming breeding season. We will support him with plenty of quality mares from our broodmare band.”

“He is a big, powerful, scopey horse with a strong shoulder and a great hip,” said Board Member Doug Cauthen. “He will add size, length, and strength to mares, and I think breeders will really like him. Sprinter/milers make good stallions and the Grade I Churchill Downs Stakes has been won by important stallions Distorted Humor and Speightstown, and recently by exceptional runners Cody’s Wish, Jackie’s Warrior and Mitole. It’s a real stallion making race.”

A Gun Runner Double in the $300,000 Cornhusker (G3).

RED ROUTE ONE edges out fellow Winchell color bearer UNLOAD, also by Gun Runner, to prevail at the wire in the Grade 3 Cornhusker.

The win came less than 24 hours after Chatalas’ victory in the Indiana Oaks (G3), marking RED ROUTE ONE’s 3rd graded stakes victory.

RED ROUTE ONE is one of 13 millionaires for his sire.
