Summer was very busy and lots of people boarded their dogs so they could travel. Unfortunately with that means viruses tend to break out. I have been hearing about increased cases coming into clinics. If your dog is experiencing cough, runny nose/eyes, or any other respiratory symptoms, then keep them at home and away from other dogs. If you have boarding reservations then call and make sure there have been no reported cases in the facility. If your pup starts experiencing symptoms please call your vet!
Our clients:
Please let us know if your pup starts experiencing symptoms of a respiratory illness. We will need to keep them in your yard and away from other dogs. This includes all walks, drop ins and pack walk. We will also need to make sure we wash our hands and spray shoes and clothing down with lysol to ensure we do not carry anything to the next job. We will alert you if we notice any respiratory symptoms during our visits.
We want to inform you that the Birmingham Humane Society has reported an outbreak of canine pneumovirus at its facility, and there have been cases of canine influenza in the Montgomery and Auburn areas.
As your pet's health and safety are our top priority, we recommend taking preventative measures against respiratory illnesses.
Ensure your dog is up-to-date on its vaccinations, including influenza and kennel cough.
When boarding, inquire about any recent outbreaks at the facility.
Be cautious when interacting with other dogs whose vaccination status is unknown.
If you have concerns or notice respiratory symptoms in your pet, please contact us. Finally, call us from the parking lot before entering the clinic with a dog showing respiratory symptoms, as these viruses are highly contagious.
