Pretty cool the way the sun was shining on this puppy this morning. I guess it was only fitting to end the 24/25 season where it began back on August 1st in the same field and the same covey of Huns within 30 yards of the first point. There is just something special about Montana.

Not all days are limit days. Yesterday was one of those days with sideways snow and bitter cold with just 2 coveys found. Today was much better with 0 degrees and sunny. Found 8 coveys with some fantastic dog work.

Well, it was another fantastic day in Ks! 8 coveys and a 2 man limit. Lexie(12 1/2) can’t get around much anymore after her bout with coonhound paralysis a few years ago, but she still gives 100% effort everyday. Nothing like old dogs still getting after it. Each point and every retrieve is extra special at this point.

Just got back from 2 weeks of bird hunting out west. Mostly good bird numbers, best day was 13 coveys. Averaged about 7 coveys per day. The two pups Aspen vom Wachtelkonig and Yasmine III vom Jagdkonig killed it in the dry conditions. Hootie vom Kiefernbach was a rock star the entire trip and is such a pleasure to walk behind and watch her work a field.

Idaho 2024 is a wrap. We had exceptional dog work on Chukars and Huns. We walked around 130 miles in 14 days of hunting, 6 days of driving, a little over 200 birds taken. Aspen vom Wachtelkonig(10 months), Yasmine III vom Jagdkonig(7 months) and Hootie vom Kiefernbach really had an outstanding trip.

Chukar and Huns for lunch today…

Hootie with the point on this covey of Huns, with Gracie and Bella backing.

The light has come on for Dottie at 4 months old. Some nice natural backing from 75 yds away. Ruby pointing covey of Huns with Darcy and Gracie also backing.

Hootie with the point with Ruby and Gracie backing. All 3 dogs steady to flush and shot. Summer training using the HuntSmith system pays off when you get on wild birds.

Atlas vom Wachtelkonig at 10 weeks old doing a water retrieve! Nice shallow water for introducing the pup, good job Rick!

First day of individual crates to help prep for when they go home. Over the next few days we will start spacing the crates further apart. Pups are almost completely potty trained to go outside now. We have only had one #1 accident in the last 3 days.

These little rascals are loving the fox!
