It’s that time year where sneaky snakes come out. ALL snakes want no part of you or your dog. You’re not on their menu. The problem arises when we step on them or your pet does. MOST snakes in Alabama are non poisonous. Don’t kill those. They help control populations of rodents. A few like this one are poisonous but again they want no part you. If your dog is bit, call your vet to make a treatment plan and whenever possible take a picture of snake for identification. The most common poisonous snakes around here are copperheads such as this one.

Yesterday I was returning from lunch n noticed couple people chasing a German Shepard. I managed to call clinic n we retrieved dog. We scanned dog and yes it was microchipped! It took all afternoon but we did manage to locate owner! Happy ending! Please get your dog microchipped! It may save their life!!
