The quality of horses may not be cheap to buy or make but they are worth it in the end! These 3 coming three year olds are starting to put the pieces together and have a hopeful show career this year. So much time goes into making these horses and we can’t wait for the finished products this year.

Merry Christmas from Plowman Performance Horses!🎄🎁 We hope everyone had a great Christmas Day. All the horses got a day off today but this two year old by RC Fancy Step never disappoints us!

Ricky is a 2 year old gelding that’s had a little over 4 months of training here with us. This was the first day we asked him to really stop with his sliders on and he didn’t disappoint! This gelding came in halter broke and started off pretty tough. He took a full 60 days of ground work before riding, but once he started to figure things out he excelled quickly! He is a natural and going to have big moves for his career as a performance horse when done here.

We are going on 4 months of training with this 2 year old filly! (Had 60 days start before coming in from another reiner trainer) Belle has been exceptional to train on and we are excited for her 3 year old year here to be finished and shown! We have high hopes for this Gunnerdunnitagain filly!

Here is a breakdown of what to expect when sending your horse to us!

Remember each horse is still different and moves at different paces. How one’s bred, conformation, upbringing, and most importantly one’s mind all plays a big factor into their progress as well while in training. But on average this is a overall “what to expect” from your horse.

We also try our best to focus on specifics if you have certain expectations when sending your horse please communicate those with us so we can focus on your goals and expectations as well with your horse specifically.

We relocated!

We are now in Vichy, MO just right outside of Rolla about 10 minutes off Interstate 44!

Indoor and outdoor arena, outdoor round pen, heated wash rack, automatic waters in every stall, stalls cleaned twice daily, 24/7 quality hay, and a full scoop of quality grain twice a day all included! The barn is kept heated and never is below 50 degrees as well so even on the coldest days horses still get rode without concern!

We do have an opening starting February 1st right in time for your young ones to be started! Please message our page or call if wanting to go ahead and get your horse on the books right in time for spring!

Offering this yearling up for grabs before we start her in February!

Coming two in March, Metalli is a solid red roan APHA filly standing around 13’3hh currently. Shes leads, loads, stands tied, been saddled, and lunged a handful of times already. She is athletic and catty. Going to make a great cow horse. Utd on shots and coggins and deworming. Her sire is currently being shown in Ranch Horse shows. She is built right and is sound and healthy in every way. We will not be upset if she stays to be started!

This two year old is starting to figure things out! Belle came to us with 60 days of training and knew her basics. Shes been here a little over 60 days now and learning to figure out her turn, circle, and starting to stop. It makes our job easy when they have willing minds & conformation like she does. We are excited to see her get finsihed here and hopefully shown over the next year!

What to expect for your horse in its first 30 days?

LOTs of ground work. The first 30 days of training when you send your horse to me that is not yet started consist of extensive ground work daily. Even if your horse is already riding around when you send it we still always check the ground work before hoping on. Ground work ranges from basic handling, being tied, brushing, bathing, saddling, bridling, lunging, learning pressure and release from the ground, and our favorite line driving! Your horse can learn so much from the ground up before you ever step foot in the saddle and what better way to prep your first ride than teaching your horse how to understand cues before climbing on their back and putting not only the horse in a uncomfortable position from lack of confidence but also putting yourself at risk from lack of control. Before we ever climb in the saddle we make sure the horse understands left, right, forward, back, and most importantly WOAH. Like I have said in previous posts, I am not a cowboy, and I will not cowboy your horse. What we will do is teach it the correct fundamentals from the ground up to keep both the horse and myself safe. If I get hurt I am out my living so we appreciate owners understanding this process for everyone’s safety! Although we like to be on their backs within the 30 days as well, not all horses move at that pace and some may need 60 days even of ground work before gaining the confidence for a rider. Not all trainers do everything the same and that is okay, but please trust our process as from experience this has had the best outcomes in the long run! We appreciate all our clients that we are fortunate enough to have had/have that have been understanding of this process!

“The more times you hit the dirt, the better your ground work gets”

~Cats Trashy Gun~

Porter is a 2 year old gelding standing just a tad over 14hh currently at the wither and almost 14’2hh at the hip! He came in to us halter broke only and has had roughly 12-15 rides in our program the last 60 days. NRHA enrolled. He has a willing mind and calm personality. Very trainable gelding that retains everything you teach him. He will walk, trot, and lope around correct on both leads, will have a big stop when finished as he already shows his potential, and has started to cross over and learn how to use his body. Does not offer to buck or rear, very easy going over all gelding. He is utd on coggins, Sound, and healthy. He would make a great ranch riding horse, cow horse, trail horse, or continue in the reining route as well! We would love to have him stay here in our program to be finished and even shown!
