Over the last several weeks we have seen an increased number of dogs coming in with runny nose, sneezing and coughing with decreased energy and appetite. Despite LOTS of testing of animals in all stages of disease, we have not been able to identify the causative agent behind this round of coughing. Many of them are also not responding to the typical medication we use to treat these symptoms. I've spent lots of time researching this and it appears similar outbreaks have popped up at various times around the country...also without answers. The good news is most of them are resolving, but sometimes the coughing is persisting for several weeks, which is also not typical.

Posting this not to spread fear, but awareness that this likely contagious cough is out there and to be vigilant. Just like with other respiratory disease like COVID in people, sometimes a dog can be "sick" and contagious and not show symptoms which makes it very easy to spread unknowingly. I am happy to share any information if interested. I am including a link here as well.
